AN: PICTURE OF DEVIN ON THE SIDE AKA CHRIS EVANS AKA THE HUMAN TORCH AKA CAPTAIN FUCKING AMERICA...THIS IS THE PIC THAT ACTUALLY INSPIRED ME TO WRITE THIS STORY.

“And then Carla bitch-slapped Jessica right in the face, and then Alexis had to pull them off each other while the rest of the guys were cheering them on. Next thing you know Carla and Jessica were making out in the pool and all these guys were filming them. And then…”

“I don’t think I want to hear the rest, Av.” I said, slamming my locker shut. I turned to look at my best friend of five years who was clutching her books to her chest, telling me about some wild party that took place on Saturday. She had golden blonde hair that lay pin straight against her flawless pale skin and light green eyes that stared up innocently at me. Her makeup was done to perfection and she was dressed in a powder pink designer dress with a black blazer pulled over it. She wore a pair of perfectly matching high heels and I couldn’t help but wonder how she managed to walk in them the entire day. Believe it or not, this was how Avril dressed usually. She wasn’t dressing to impress the new boy, she was simply being her spoilt rich white kid self. She always hated when I called her that, but she knew I was only joking.

I on the other hand dressed pretty casually, and had a sort of cool nerdy preppy school girl look. I wore a lot of flared skirts with button up shirts, sometimes with blazers. I still had to dress nicely because after all I was part of the popular crew.

“Do we have practise after school today?”

“Mhm,” Avril nodded. “Till 7.”

“Geez, my father is going to be so pissed.” I muttered manoeuvring through the hallways.

“Why?”

“Recently he’s gotten the idea that volleyball is a distraction from my school work.”

“But you’re really damn good! Like insanely good at it! If you continue like this you could play for the national team.” Avril exclaimed.

“Well sport is nothing to my father, it’s all about academics.” I shrugged. We entered our homeroom together and took a seat at our desks right at the back. I was lucky to have had the same home room teacher with Avril since the beginning of high school.

“I wish I could help you in some way, Maliha.” She said, staring at me with pity. Avril knew how much of an ass my father could be and she had always tried to help. All her attempts had proven futile and after a while she had stopped.

I laughed and put on my best care-free smile, “Don’t worry about me Av, I can handle it.”

“Whatever you say.” She muttered as the bell rang. A whole bunch of students rushed into class, chattering loudly. Soon our homeroom teacher, Mr. Wong, entered the classroom.

“Silence!” He bellowed. Surprisingly Mr. Wong was from Australia.

“Now class, as you all know we are going to be getting a new student. He is the son of famous writer Homer Ford, but that is no excuse to give him any special treatment. He is just like any one of you. Moving on, today’s announcements…” I tuned his voice out after that and focussed on playing with my fingers. That was certainly more interesting than having to hear stupid school announcements. The bell finally rung and everyone sprung up to leave.

“Ma-lie-ah Ja-dave” Mr. Wong’s voice called as I was about to leave the classroom. He said my name wrong, and I rolled my eyes before turning around and flashing him my A+ student smile.

“Maliah Jhadav, yes.”

“I’m assigning you to show Mister Ford around, he’ll only be arriving sometime before lunch.”
