Comet Maria

"Control centre! Control centre! Hello! Hello! Control centre!" Maria kept yelling but no one answered. "Robert, I don't think we can escape from here." Said Maria who's an astronaut to her crewmate, Robert. "Don't give up! Let's keep trying." Said Robert. They were trying and trying but everything in vain. No answer came from the control centre. Maria's eyes became teary. She was getting reminded of her parents since she was a little girl. She remembered how she used to ask for the rocket toys, how she used to ask for science fiction books based on outer space, how she used to daydream of going on a space mission and how she always wanted to see the comets. "Dad! Dad! Today Halley's Comet will be visible in the sky. I'm definitely gonna see it today!" Said young 15 years old Maria to her father. Her dad Mr. Watson smiled and nodded. "Mom! Dad! I'm not going to sleep today until I see the comet. Don't you even think of telling me to go to my room and sleep." They chuckled and her Mom said, "Well, normally I wouldn't have allowed but-" "Today no but no if. Today I'm not gonna sleep until I see the comet. Got it?" Interrupted Maria. "Ok boss! Got it." Said her parents grinning. "You see someday you'll be excited like me to see a comet in the night sky and that would be 'The Maria's Comet' " said Maria. "For sure" said her Dad. Suddenly Maria startled because she heard Robert screaming, "MARIA!!!! THE CONTROL CENTRE ANSWERED" Maria, who was lost in her childhood memory came back to reality and cried, "Really! What did they say?" But Robert didn't answer. He remained silent and put his head down. "What happened? Tell me already. Tell me, what did they say???" Asked Maria enthusiastically. "Well...this..this Maria comet will hi-" Suddenly she heard a loud noise of someone yelling at her. "Maria! Maria!!! Wake up. Were you awake the whole night for seeing Halley's Comet? Did you see it? Now c'mon wake up! It's 9am already. You've your 10 am online class today! Don't you remember?" When she opened her eyes, she saw her mother and she was lying on the bed. She ran towards the mirror and saw she was still that 15 year old Maria. She burst into tears. When her mother asked, she said, "Comet Maria was going to hit me and my crewmate, Robert. We were in the spacecraft. We saved it from hitting the Earth but now we were in danger and moreover, I missed Halley's Comet again!" Her mother couldn't understand anything but tried to calm her down.
