Bree's mental/ past POV

I don't remember much about my childhood, but if you asked me to describe what my mother looked like I could only remember her scent. She always had the smell of lavender, it was relaxing. That smell always sticks out to me when I'm walking near abandoned places, dark alleyways, or at home. I try not to think anything of it because Vara uses perfume, but sometimes when she doesn't I can smell lavender. Which I find odd due to the fact she normally smells like cherries. I remember that day now like it was yesterday...

"Vara. Fix your face." Her mother says, Vara tries to fix her blank expression into a more warm welcoming smile. "It's alright don't worry!" I whispered to her, I took out a marker and paper. I handed it to her and watched her write. She had very nice handwriting. Once she got done I looked at what she wrote and my eyes when wide.

Meet me at the large oak tree. I'm running away tonight. If you can't make it don't try.

I nod putting the paper in my bag. I had two minutes before my mother came. My house wasn't too far from here. "Bree, sweetheart your mother is pulling up. Please get ready." Vara's mother says and I yell back "ALRIGHT!" I start packing up and I hug Vara goodbye. "I have to walk you downstairs." I hear her soft voice again, she doesn't talk often so it surprised me that she said anything. We both walked downstairs. "Hello, Vara! How are you?" My mom says while taking my bag from me. I look at Vara's mom who was looking at Vara. "Hello...I'm alright. Thank you for asking." She says looking at her mom. "Alright, we'll be off now! Goodnight Vara."  My mom says, holding the door open for me to walk out of. Which I did. "Bye-bye Vara!" I wave while running to the car. Vara's mother had a fake smile plastered across her face. Her husband's car pulled up, "aw hello Bree! Did you enjoy your play date?" I nod and smile. "I'm so sorry that I wasn't able to make your cookies! You said you wanted to make cookies with Vara, maybe next time." He shows me a smile, I look at my mom who was smiling as well. "That sounds like a plan!" A joyful smile came on my face.

Little did I know that was the last time I saw Mr. and Mrs. Yamazaki and Vara. My mother took me away and before I got on the highway I was already asleep. I was supposed to meet Vara but I couldn't. I was taken away but we met again in a way I never thought we would.

"Aw, hey sweetheart! How was school?" I hear a familiar voice next to me while waiting for my grandmother to pick me up. "It was fine or whatever. There was this annoying ass kid who was yelling a lot." The girl says slightly quiet, then I turn around and see that Midnight and Mount Lady were talking to a girl in my class. "Oh lighten up Vara! Was he at least cute?" I couldn't help but stare I felt as if I knew that name before. "No. He was loud and annoying. God my hair." Vara puts her hair up into a ponytail. She had such long hair, I do too but I was debating whether to dye my hair or not. "Kiddo, do you- oh hello young lady!" Midnight says looking at me. I didn't realize that I was staring at them for such a long time. Vara looks the other way. "Oh hi!" I say waving, my eyes follow Vara as she gets into a car. "Good afternoon, how was school?" A male voice said from the car, Vara says back "my day was..." and nothing was left to be heard. The car door was shut. "What's your name?" Midnight says me. I smile and start a conversation. Stating my name and that I'm a part of Vara's class. Midnight and Mount Lady were interested in what I was saying. I asked what Vara's last name was. "Oh Vara's last? It's Yamazaki!" I paused trying to recall where I knew that name from. Vara...Yamazaki...Vara Yamazaki... "oh my god. I remember her!" Mount Lady looks at me confused, "what do you mean?" She asks me, I look at her "I was her childhood best friend! I knew where she lived!" Both of the pro heroes looked at me shocked. "Do you have a cellphone by any chance?" Midnight asks me with a smile.

She showed me where she was now living. She let me meet people she called her family. She trusted me with her secrets and life. We were always talking to each other. We also hung out a lot.

"Vara are you ready for the dinner?" Endeavor asks but gets a door slam as a response. "Son of a- BREE YOU'RE HER PLUS ONE RIGHT?!" She yells and I yell back "YEAH I'LL HELP HER OUT!" A loud sigh came from Endeavor. Vara was pinning up her hair, "fucking hell, I don't understand why I have to go. His child isn't going. So why do I have to go." She groans and I laugh. "Girl it's not as bad as you think! I think he's brought his daughter. I mean not everyone there will be heroes. I'm pretty sure everyone will be there." She looks at me, her eyes piercing through my face. "Stop staring! I'm being serious! There might be other kids there!" She stands up while fixing her dress. "I hate being called a kid." She says while standing behind me and starts to fix my hair. "It's not like I'll remember them anyways." She mumbles and I laugh. "You should remember Kats! You two are like best friends!" I say while smiling, she stays silent. "He's not my best friend, I have a best friend. Other than you." I never understood what she meant by that, but I try to understand her. "Let's go downstairs. They're waiting for us." I nod and stand up.

Once we get downstairs we were greeted by a warm welcome. "Wow, you look great!" Someone says to us and I smile but when I look for Vara she wasn't by my side. She was looking at me from the bottom of the steps...

I remember that night but nothing else. It's ingrained in my memory. I remember her, not much but I remember her. My father, I don't know much about him either. All I know is that one day we'll meet again.
