Boruto kept his gaze forward and his mind blank as he walked towards the Uchiha residence that morning, his hands shoved in his pockets. Boruto waved sheepishly with his non-karma hand to some fangirls on the other side of the street, but quickly returned to his blank state of mind as he turned the corner to the Uchiha residence.

Sakura had already gone to work at the hospital, and Sarada had just finished putting her dishes away from breakfast when she heard a knock at her front door.

"Boruto, What are you doing here, I thought we were taking the day off from training?"

Team 7 had been training almost none stop due to their temporary hiatus, and the team all agreed they needed the day of rest.

"Good morning to you to Sarada. I'm not here for training, I just figured since we had the day off I'd treat you to that caramel macchiato I owe you..." Boruto replied while glancing away from Sarada.

Sarada was confused for a moment, but then recalled saving Boruto from the Mujina Boss a little while back.

"Oh Boruto, you don't have to do that, I was just glad that-"

"I want to."

Boruto replied with an earnest expression on his face.

"Oh, ok then, i'll be back in a second."

Sarada couldn't help but feel slightly giddy as she quickly brushed her teeth and hair.

This sounds like a date almost, but it's not because it's just a teammate returning a favor, right?

Sarada thought to herself as she put on her shoes. She couldn't help the slight blush come to her face at the thought of going on a coffee date with Boruto, nonetheless.

Sarada made her way out the door and the two shinobi walked side by side along the sidewalk. As they walked, they passed another group of Boruto's fan girls, a group that certainly increased due to Boruto's recent interviews on television. He again acted sheepishly, while Sarada simply rolled her eyes.

The two made their way into the coffee shop and got in line. The line was thankfully short and they soon approached the counter.

"I'll have two caramel macchiatos please." Boruto requested while handing the cashier 15 ryo.

"You can keep the change." Boruto insisted.

They were handed their coffee and sat at a table for two by one of the windows along the wall.

"What made you get the same drink as me?" Sarada asked, proceeding to take a sip from the sweet morning brew.

"Iv'e never had it before, but it sounds good to me."

The two sat in silence for a few minutes. Sarada looked around the cafe some and noticed Boruto staring into his coffee. He seemed like he had something on his mind. Usually Sarada could always tell what was on Boruto's mind, but this time was different.

"Is there something on your mind Boruto?"

Boruto looked up from his coffee to a caring expression from his lifelong friend and rival, and then averted his gaze to the window.

"It's nothing really, its just that lately Iv'e been doing some...reflection."

"Reflection?" Sarada asked with a slightly tilted head.

Boruto said nothing but thought of the prophecy Momoshiki had told him back when he bestowed the karma on him.

Reflect well upon thy fate, as you walk it...human child.

"I...I just regret how much of a brat I used to be, and I need to get a lot, lot stronger."

Sarada was wide eyed for a moment at Boruto's confession, shocked at his sudden sense of maturity and responsibility.

He's right though. Sarada thought. Sarada could remember feeling so envious of Boruto and his father, annoyed that Boruto didn't appreciate the amazing father he had. Sarada felt warm and almost proud at the growth in him.

"I don't know what you mean 'used to be', you're still as bratty as ever." Sarada chided while taking another sip of coffee.

Boruto chuckled and took a sip of coffee as well.

Boruto placed his cup back down and made eye contact with Sarada.

"I'm sorry about what I said before too...about staying single when you become hokage."

Sarada was once again left wide eyed at Boruto's words, surprised he even remembered that little back and forth. Sarada was blushing slightly about his remark of when she becomes hokage, not if. It was clear to Sarada that Boruto had complete faith in her ability to reach her dream.

"Apology accepted. Whats got you feeling all sensitive and remorseful? Must have been some deep reflection." Sarada teased.

"Hey, don't get carried away now Sarada."

The two chuckled and continued to drink their coffee as they were silent once again. It wasn't an awkward silence. It was a silence that seemed to signify they were comfortable being in each others company.

They soon broke the silence once again, and they continued to finish their coffee talking about their training, friends, and families. A few laughs bubbled out of them reminiscing about funny events on their previous missions. Most of which were at Boruto's expense.

Finishing their coffee, they left the cafe and headed the long way back to Sarada's house, passing a few of their friends along the way.

"So what do you have planned for the rest of the day?" Boruto asked.

"I was gonna do some cleaning around the house and read some more about tactics and formations. what about you?"

"Glad to see you're taking your responsibilities seriously Captain Sarada." Boruto relplied teasingly while skipping a rock across a lake they were passing.

"I'm gonna go visit Uncle Neji with mom and Hima after lunch, I'm not sure after that."

"I see."

It was back to silence until they made their way back to Sarada's house.

"Thank's for the coffee Boruto, I had fun." Sarada said as a slight blush made its way to her cheeks.

"No problem, we should umm...we should do it again sometime." Boruto stated as a blush crept its way to his face as well, one of his hands rubbing the back of his neck.

"Sure...i'd like that." Sarada replied with a smile, Boruto smiling at her response.

The two said their farewell as Sarada entered her house and Boruto started the walk back home, a feeling of giddiness and excitement swelling inside the both of them.
