"Hey Emily!" Katie gave her a big hug. Peyton shoved her aside and gave Emily a huge hug also. Angel had a hurt look on her face. They'd just gotten off of winter break and no one acknowledged her at all.

"Hey guys." Emily smiled. She turned to Angel with an apologetic look. When Katie and Peyton turned and went into a deep conversation, Emily snuck away with Angel.

"I feel invisible." Angel admitted.

"That's not even close to feeling invisible. I can't tell you how many times the teachers mark me absent because they don't notice me. Or when someone comes up to me and says, 'Emily?! You go here? Since when?'" Angel nodded her head in agreement. Angel and Emily made their way inside the commons to get their schedule. It was like salmon swimming up stream to mate but not that exciting. Everyone was giving each other hugs and laughing as though it was decades since they saw each other.

"I'll meet you by the office once you get your schedule." Angel promised as she departed for her line. Her last name starts with a C as Emily's starts with a N. Emily looked for her line. She finally spotted it second to last. Emily recognized the two teachers handing out the schedules. One was Mr. King, a science teacher who no one likes, and Mr. Eismont, a math teacher who was Emily's volleyball teacher the year before. Emily stand in line waiting for it to start moving. Mr. Eismont caught Emily's eye and gestured for her to come over. He handed Emily her schedule and she looked at what took place of her electives. Gym. Luckily Emily still had band. She walked over to the office and waited for Angel to finish getting her schedule.

"Hey.....Emily." She turned around to find her crush, Quincey, standing behind her with the biggest grin she loved so much.

"Hey." she smiled like a dork.

"Lemme see your schedule." Quincey snatched the paper from her hand. "Ouch...gym for first period? I have it for third."

"Lucky you. I have band for third period." She explained.

"You a band nerd?" He asked.

"Geek. Band geek." Emily corrected. "And yes I am." Quincey walked away to talk to Ahmad while Angel made her way towards Emily.

"Tech and Orchestra." she handed the paper to Emily.

"Band and gym." Emily announced.

"Man that sucks. I hope you survive. Good luck." They departed to go to their class.

The first bell rang and they were let up stairs to their area with the lockers. After Emily put her things in her locker she closed it and spun the dial back to zero. It was part of her OCD. Emily made her way down stairs along with the other early birds. She was the first one in the gym sitting on the bleachers. As the gym filled up she saw more people she didn't like except for a few of them like Walker, Jaylen, Keisha and D'Lon. The whole class was just basically what it's gonna be like for the rest of the year. Most people weren't paying any attention.
Ring ring the bell sounds. She runs upstairs to her locker and puts in the code....right 12 left 36 right 34. Emily grabs her things for literacy and heads towards the other side of the building. Quincey caught a glimpse of Emily and caught up with her.

"Hey." he greeted.

"Hi." Emily couldn't help but smile. She opened the door to her class and Quincey followed in. Since second period was Ms. Marvels first class of the day so Emily had to take the chairs off the tables.

"Who sits next to you?" Quincey asked.

"Ling-Ling." Emily responded. Ling-Ling was the nickname of a girl named Huong, who Emily known since the fourth grade. Quincey didn't respond. He ran out of the room when he caught the attention of a class mate he always messes around with. Emily smiled as more people fled into the cold room.

"So what's going on with you and Quincey?" Ling-Ling asked.

"Nothing he still hasn't asked me." Emily opened her writing book to start the warm-up which was asking how their spring break was.

"He's such a fuck boy." Ling-Ling said smiling.

"He plays too many games." Emily claimed. Ling-Ling nodded. Ms. Marvel walked in and started to begin the class when the bell rang.

After class Emily headed down stairs for band. The day went by pretty fast after that. Science was boring as usual and lunch after that then math and Social Studies was fast. In Social Studies there was a substitute. Later they found out he wasn't a substitute. He was the replacement for Mr. Bahr, the teacher they had before break. The new teachers name was Mr. Swiney. He seemed really cool. After sixth period, Emily headed for volleyball practice.
