Chapter 1: The Beginning

Her small frail body wrapped tightly around mine while little fingers clenched at the slightly worn tunic as if grasping for some sort of comfort I could not give. Her body shook with muffled sobs, quiet cries left her cracked lips.

My tears followed eyes clenched shut in hopes of putting a stop to this ever-flowing flood of tears. Father stood not too far his eyes distant and haunted, Fists grasped angrily around a blood-soaked piece of cloth that hung at his side.
A wail of whistling agony tore through the air.
Nature was satisfied at the newly given offering.
The earth lashed out, bolts flew across the skies, winds tormented the village houses and teased the trees. It was as though the skies were crying for us, overwhelmed by our grief.

Then nothing but calm. As though the storm was a mere dream.

We had to make this lie believable, still, it was hard to admit she was gone. Dead. Never coming back. For she had returned to nature herself.

And I was the one who murdered her.
