Gazing the Horizon

 Life will never be too late for anyone of us. You might say that the dawn will never come, that no matter how you try, you will never reach the horizon. Despite the challenges we encounter, hope do exist. Monday morning on the ninth of July, my mother brought the new girl who will work to watch over me. She's mature and smart, not the usual girl I often see in a movie. I always thought that my life is a drama, I was a star during my days. I live a happy life, but then, I never thought the worst day of life would come to me. I was a boxer, a champion and the nation pride. I am the best of my time, my name, "Harold Vasquez" was always in sports magazine, in television, and in billboards, everyone knows me, but an unexpected punch made me disable. I was in coma for 2 years. It was a miracle for me to wake up, but I didn't see it as a miracle. I hope God killed me instead. A life when you can't do anything but sit.

I once saw a movie with my girl, a movie known, "Me before you", it was great. I never thought that I will become like William Traynor. I now get him, I wish I could end my life like he do, but I can't, I am a family guy, a man who loves his family more than anyone else. I know my parent won't be able to bare if I day, so I have to live like this for the rest of my life. Hoping something would happen, an accident maybe, this all happened because of an accident. I hope I die from an accident too.

"Hi, my name is Rhea Flores." The new attendant said to me. That's what she only said to me, nothing else. She's strange, she's different from the other girl that my mother hired before. "Aren't you gonna encourage me?" I said to her. Then she replied, "Why would I?" What's with this girl? "I thought, that's your job?" I said to her." She smirk after hearing that, then she said, "So you're hoping to be saved?" She smart, not like the other girls. Can she see what's in my head? "I'm sorry but I can't encourage you, because I can't even encourage myself." She said as she look around my room. "Well then, why take this job?" I asked. She ignored me and just opened the window of my room then gazed on it.

This Rhea is completely a strange person. The first day she came, she just gazed on the window, the second day she came, she just sit and read a book entitled, "Requiem." The third day she came she just watched some anime called Violet Evergarden, she watched the whole season and two movies of it. She didn't even left the room. On the fourth day she came again, she just listen to some emo songs. The fifth day she came, she just played some board games and even played chess on her own. What is she even thinking? She's so unusual. This is not what I am expecting, and my mother even paying for her. This is unacceptable, I have to say something to my mother.

When my mother came to my room, I said to her, "Mom, why did you hire her? She's just doing things on her own and not even do anything for me." My mother looked at me and said, "What are you talking about Son? Based on her reports she did a lot. Look at you, few days ago you don't even bother to talk to me, and didn't even tried to speak nor tried to see what's going on around you but look, you are now talking to me, isn't that a result?" My mother said. I was lost in words.

Rhea was doing some reverse psychology to me for the past week, if she comes today, I won't let her do things the way she wants. But few hours has passed and she didn't came. My mother told me that Rhea have to do something emergency today. What is that? Is that even allowed? My mother was okay with it? She's just here for a week and now she's absent? How is this possible? I want her out, tomorrow if she come, I would chase her away. But again, she didn't come for the next three days.

I should have not bother with it, I suppose after those days of not doing her job means she's fired. I guess I won and I am on my own again. I laughed hard, but how simple minded I am. I didn't even do anything, but then unexpectedly she came, and said, "How simple minded you are?" Is she a mind reader? "So you can laugh, don't worry, I don't care." She said. Ha! I know what's going on, your reverse psychology will not work with me this time.
