On Addison's first time coming back to Seattle after leaving for L.A. she hugs Meredith and remembers why she left Seattle in the first place. While there she finds out that Meredith and Derek are not together anymore. She wants to find out if her feelings would be reciprocated. Meddison with some McDreamy/McSteamy things. (Some dialogue from GA 4x13)

This is part of the fic exchange between meddison writers from Ao3. I'll leave a link in the comments for you guys to go enjoy the rest if you'd like.

A Chance To Be Yours

She sat on the floor after what had been her last surgery as an attending in Seattle Grace, next to her friend. It was funny how she always ran. Ran to medical school. Ran to marry. Ran through her residency. Ran through her marriage. Ran to terminate the pregnancy. Ran after her husband.

Now she was running from them. From what they could become or likely would become. She was running from her. From all the feelings that had ever so slowly crept up on her. She ran. She was running.

"Is there anything you want me to tell the new residents?" Callie asked as they both stared into nothingness.

"No." Her voice was tired and sad but she couldn't help it.

"Not even Meredith ?" Callie knew what was happening. She knew her friend.

"Not even her." She couldn't bring herself to say her name anymore. It had become too painful after accepting what she felt.

"So you're really going?" Callie asked for the billionth time.

"I have to go. I need to."

It had been close to a year now since she had been in Seattle Grace. Addison stood in front of the hospital bracing herself a sudden feeling of nostalgia creeping in. It looked the same. Busy as always with people coming and going, patients and doctors rushing in and out of it's doors. She also hadn't changed much aside from her hair which was now a few shades darker and more layered. She stood there a few minutes before she was pulled out of her reverie by her friend.

"Welcome back." Bailey said happily.

"Uh, I am not back. I am here for a surgery." Addison reminded her brows rising high.

"I know." Bailey whined, making Addison chuckle. "Uh, charts, labs, uh, security key card, and key to the doctors' lounge." She continued as she handed Addison her things.

"Ooh. Oh, look. They used my old picture." She chuckled as she remembered her old days in Seattle Grace. "It's like I never left." She added as they made their way inside.

"Addie," Richard called enthusiastically, "you're back." He said definitively and hugged her.

"I am not back." She said again as she hugged him back. She did miss him and Bailey quite a lot.

"Oh, you're back." Richard said smugly. "You're gonna smell the stink and sweat of surgery, and you're gonna be back." He affirmed.

"See? Nothing ever changes around here." She said to Bailey.

"Things change." Bailey replied.

"Welcome back." Richard said again happily.

"I am not back!" She laughed as they finally made it through the door.
