Why can't life be what we desire? What do I even desire?
"Mama! I'm going to be late!" A voice drowning the silence achoed in a small cottage like house.
"Stop worry." Said a short, older woman in attempt to calm down her son in incorrect grammar and a foreign accent.
"What if they don't like me? I've never done this before Ma." Fluent Japanese flows out his lips as his heart dipped in anxiety.
"Stop worrying. Why wouldn't they like you? You are my son after all; the sweetest and kindest person I know."
A small silence was shared between them as Eiko stood there almost paralyzed by fear.
"Ok mom, but will you be ok? I'll be leaving so such a long while." A pouty frown spread across his face.
Eiko was beautiful.
Plump, pink lips. Pale skin with a ghost of a blush. A slim built petite body. Shoulder length hair that was tied into a low bun with small strands falling onto his face. Wire frame glasses sat upon his small lightly freckled nose.
He stood in silence as his mother fixed his clothes, tugging on his tie, paying no mind to his question.
"Listen Eiko, I'll be good. No need to worry about your mother," said his mother to try and comfort his worries, a sad smile tugging at her lips. "- I'm not old, I could still relive my model days."
Their laughter bounced of the formally silence etched walls. Lighting the room they were in up a mere interval.
And he left, unsure of himself, quaking knees, thumping heart, sweaty palms, and head hung low.
His transportation soon arrived, a car horn soon rang through the air, breaking the silence in which silent words of comfort were shared.
Clutching at his luggage, Eiko pulled himself towards the door. Anxiousness in his walk and body as he step towards the door.
When he stepped outside a matte black SUV was waiting in his drive way, he was expecting a cab so this came as a shock to him.
What type of school was I dragged into?
He got into the car as his mother stood on the porch to see her son off. Like a mother would on her baby's first day at school.
Well, it was.
He looked at the small white and grey house, with somber eyes. Uncertainty tearing through him. He wouldn't be back for some time. His safe heaven. He certainly didn't want to leave this mother alone. Of course he was worried, as any other kid would be for their parent.
Eiko fidgeted with his hands, and it became more apparent as the car started to pull away, the small tense in his frame didn't go unpriced by him no matter how much he tried not to let the fear and anxiety tip him over.
When the house was out of view reality hit, it was still going to be a long time before him and his mother meet again, they would be seas apart.
Manchester.
"Welcome to Manchester, please fasten your seatbelts and prepare for landing. Have a great stay." The flight attendants voice rang through the cabin waking Eiko from his slumber.
