chapter six: Grandparents
𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟭𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟭 - 𝟭𝟬:𝟭𝟱𝗮𝗺
𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗹𝗱
Leaving last night, Sydney was in peace. Her daughter, Lila, in her arms, and Vinnie sitting peacefully with her. But this morning, she was a nervous wreck.
Vinnie's parents were coming today as last night they had flown in, and she was about the shit her pants.
The night went pretty smoothly, Vinnie didn't leave once, Lila didn't really sleep but Vinnie made sure that Sydney still got some sleep by them taking turns.
"Sydney calm down, why are you so nervous. My mom and pops love you, we might be broken up but my parents still love you" Vinnie said laughing at Sydney as she changed Lila's diaper
Sydney sighed as she picked Lila up and cuddled her "Because i've just had a baby, they're gonna hate me!"
"They don't hate you, Sydney they love you. You've just given them their first grandchild" Vinnie said trying to reassure Sydney
Vinnie's phone pinged and he instantly looked at it before looking back up and Sydney and Lila.
"They're downstairs, i'll go get them" Vinnie said standing up and heading out the door
"Hey Vin" Sydney softly said as she placed Lila in the bassinet.
"Mhm?" Vinnie hummed as he turned around to face her
"I could really do with some nuggies and an ice coffee right now" Sydney smirked as she sat down on the bed
Vinnie huffed "I'll get you the ice coffee from the cafe downstairs but your gonna have to wait for the nuggets"

20 minutes later the door opened. Sydney's nerves grew bigger and bigger as she watched Vinnie enter the room with his parents and his brother
"Hey sweetie" Maria softly smiled as she walked in the room slowly
"Hey" Sydney whispered as Lila slept in her arms
Maria made her way around the bed and stood beside Sydney, She looked at the baby in awe as Nate, Reggie and Vinnie talked
"Can i hold her?" Maria asked. Sydney nodded her head before handing the baby to Maria.
"Hey gorgeous girl" Maria cooed as she rocked the baby back and forth
"What's her name?" Nate asked as Maria handed him his granddaughter
"Lila Sage Hacker" Sydney said with a smile
"Wait my last name?" Vinnie asked confused as they hadn't discussed the last name
"Well Lila Kellis sounded better but i think she deserves to have you last name" Sydney
"Oh," Vinnie said softly, now scared. But Sydney placed a hand on his, making him look up.
"It's ok, i was joking" she mouthed to him with a smile
"We don't have to if you don't want to." She finished a loud, but after a second of thinking, Vinnie shook his head protectively.
"No, Lila Sage Hacker sounds good." He nodded.

Nate, Maria and Reggie all held Lila before she started crying in Reggie's arms so she was handed to Vinnie to get her diaper changed.
Maria brought some baby clothes that she'd picked up from some family relatives that had baby's and had also brought some new ones - which would do for a while until Sydney had something sorted out
"How long are you staying for?" Sydney asked as she said her bye to Reggie, Nate and Maria
"Nate and Reg are going to fly home in about a week" Maria laughed as she hugged Sydney
"And you? I don't know anything Maria, i'm scared" Sydney explained whispering the last part as she pulled away from the hug
"I can stay as long as you want, my flight home isn't booked and you can phone me anytime" Maria said as she hugged Vinnie
Sydney nodded before she said a final goodbye and hugged them all once again before they said by to little Lila as they called her.
After they left there was a few minutes of silence. Vinnie picked Lila up and cradled her before she started to become fussy, they could tell she was fussy by the little noises she was making
"I heard what you said to my mom" Vinnie said breaking the silence as he looked up from Lila
"Why are you scared Syd?" He asked as Lila wrapped her hand around his finger
Sydney took in a deep breath as she tried to hold a few tears back "I don't know, i just feel like i'm gonna fail her"
"Syd your not gonna fail her okay? you're already the best mom to her and she's only what a day old" Vinnie said trying to reassure Sydney
Before Sydney could say anything the door opened and Camryn walked in, she had balloons which read 'baby girl' and 'congratulations' on them
"Your favourite Tia is here!" She said bubbly as she placed the balloons down
Sydney laughed as she shook her head watching Camryn untangle the balloons "Your crazy, you seriously are"
"How are you holding up Syd?" Camryn asked as she sat on the end of the bed
"I'm okay, i'm sore, but i'm okay" Sydney sighed "She's literally a little angel"
