The apartment felt empty. Thomas, now my ex-boyfriend had earlier today picked up his last personal items from here. It had been absolute chaos in my head for the past few months. With the help of my therapist and friends I finally, (as they would say) broke up with him. Everything had seemed great in the beginning, but quickly I had started noticing signs of lying and jealousy from his side. But I guess the saying "love is blind" once again was correct. All his flaws were left unnoticed when I only wanted to see the good in him.
It was not only the breakup I felt sad over. It was the thought of 2 years lost I could never get back. During those years I had not only lost myself but also my best friend since childhood, Max. Some days I spent in my apartment wondering if he missed our friendship. Because I sure did. Thomas had this crazy idea about us being more than friends and forced me to distance myself from Max. After that, I hadn't seen him for almost 15 months. Even if we lived in the same city, he was often traveling during the season and I was working.
1 new message from Avery
Avery: "Are you feeling any better? Before you protest, we two are going out for dinner tonight (!!) I've booked a table for us at Elsa."
Me: "Feeling a bit better, Thomas was here this morning – I'll talk about it tonight. You are the best. I don't deserve you."
Avery: "Stop that. I love you Vale."
After laying in bed the whole day without getting anything done, I finally got up and took a long shower. I washed my hair and put on some makeup after. It's crazy how small things can make you instantly feel a tiny bit better about yourself.
I chose to wear a navy blue slip-on dress. With that, I chose some heels just because we were going to a "fancier" place. When the clock was 15 minutes to eight I took my small purse and headed down to get my car. I smoothly drove my car out of the garage and started my drive to Pointe de la Veille.
Max's POV :
After a great season start, I'm back in Monaco for the first time since forever it feels like. Next week it will take off to the British Grand Prix. But tonight I won't think about Formula. My friends have planned a small gathering in a nice restaurant for me. They wanted to celebrate me they said. We are going to this restaurant called Elsa. I've heard it's nice.
When I arrive I suddenly feel a sting in my stomach. While I'm parking my car I recognize a very familiar car next to mine. Valencia's BMW cabriolet. Or at least it looks like it. I choose not to think too much about it and enter the restaurant.
But as I am walking to the back of the restaurant, I have to look twice at this one specific table. I instantly recognize Valencia's blonde hair as she is sitting at one of the tables laughing at something her friend says. I suddenly feel like saying hello. But is that weird? We haven't spoken in so long...
