"Taylor, go sit down!"Carter says, grabbing my shoulders and pointing me back towards the couch.
"I can't sit down anymore! I swear, I'm going to go crazy if I spend anymore time cooped up in this house," I whine, crossing my arms over my chest. With my 9-months-pregnant belly, however, this task proves extremely difficult.
Carter chuckles, and places a kiss on my forehead.
"Okay. I guess it can't hurt to move around some," he agrees. "Where do you want to go."
One look at my face and he knows the answer.
"Taylor," he warns.
"Carter," I return, mimicking his voice. "I have not seen Ezhno in two weeks. He probably thinks I've abandoned him."
I stick my bottom lip out in a pout that has proved very effective in the past.
His lip twitches as he tries to fight a smile. He fails in the battle though, a grin coming over his face.
"Okay. Let's go."
I squeal, and place a kiss on his cheek.
I'm extremely excited to be able to go see my horse. As I've gotten bigger, its been harder to move around and do the things I normally do. I had to stop riding a few months ago, and these past few weeks, I've barely been able to go see my boy.
It doesn't help that Carter is extremely overprotective. He wants to do everything for me, which, although it's very nice of him, is driving me crazy. I can't so much as get myself a glass of water without him asking me if I need help.
The few times we have been out to see the horses the past few weeks, he's been on red alert, worried that I'm going to trip over a lead rope, or get kicked by a horse. Once, I suggested lunging Ezhno since I couldn't ride, and he looked at me as if I was crazy. He told me Ezhno could accidentally hurt me, which earned him an eyeroll from me. As if Ezhno would ever do anything to hurt me. Of course, there has always been an imaginary animosity between the two. I know they secretly love each other though.
If he's this way with me, I can't imagine how he's going to be with our little girl. God help the boy who tries to date her when she's older. I can already see Carter sitting on the front porch with a shotgun, waiting for him to show up. The thought brings a silly smile to my face, and I shake my head.
Of course, he doesn't know the baby is a girl yet. He wanted it to be a surprise- we both did at first. But about a week ago, I couldn't wait any longer and I called the doctor to find out.
I grab my tennis shoes from my closet, along with a pair of socks, and sit on the couch to put them on. Wanting to be able to do something for myself, I try to pull my feet to where I can reach them- with no success.
I know Carter is standing behind me before he speaks.
"Do you want me to do that for you?" he asks, amused.
I hand him my shoes, sticking my tongue out at him.
"You would think that you'd be more mature," he chuckles, crouching down in front of me to do my shoes.
"Do you really want to fight with me?" I ask, raising an eyebrow. I try to look serious, but my lips curl up in a smile against my will.
"Oh no. I am wise enough to know not to pick a fight with you. I'll lose everytime," he chuckles, finishing with my shoes. He leans forward, and places a kiss on my belly. Then, he stands up, pulling me to my feet.
"I love you," I say, smiling at him.
"I love you, too. Now, come on. Let's go see the demon horse."
