Neo had picked me up and we were walking back home.
"I was worried sick." He brushed through his thick blonde hair.
I didn't really listen to him since I was still lost in my thoughts, which were becoming more confusing by the second.
"Why were you in this neighborhood anyway? Did you spend the night with some random dude?" He looked at me, nervous.
"What? No." I replied.
My answer didn't seem to to get rid of his worry. He still looked pretty concerned.
"I slept at a friends house." I continued, looking to the ground to not have to look him in the eyes while lying.
"Jaz, and I mean this in the least offensive way possible, you don't have any friends besides Faye and me." His eyebrow shot up.
I took a deep breath. He was right. I didn't have any more friends. They were the only ones.
I suddenly felt anger starting to boil inside of me.
"Why am I the one having to explain myself? Where the hell were you at the party?" I stopped for a second, trying not to cry again, luckily there were still no tears left. "Where the hell were you when I needed you?" I hissed.
Now he was the one nervously breaking eye contact and looking down.
"I was... I..." He stuttered, obviously not knowing what to answer.
"I was busy.""Busy?" I yelled, letting out a loud sarcastic laugh. "He was busy." I whispered, shaking my head while still slightly laughing.
"What the hell is your problem Jaz-"
"My problem is that I almost got raped last night and you were no where to be found." I yelled, interrupting him.
Neo stopped walking. His gaze shot up at me and his eyes widened.
"What?" He whispered. So quietly I almost didn't hear it.
"That's right." I tensed my fist. "Why is it that the only person having saved me is the one who hates me and not my best friend who promised to look out for me?" My eyes began to water again. Shit.
"Jaz..." He took my hand in his. "I am so sorry." He pulled me in his arms.
"You promised." I whispered.
"I know." He whispered back as he hugged me tight, removed the curls from my face and kissed my head.
"I know."-

I hadn't slept last night.
Not only wondering if I had done the right thing by saving her, but also... hell, worrying.
She was the enemy.
She deserved to have her heart get ripped out and burned, then have the ashes tossed into trash.
She deserved many dreadful things happening to her.
