mummys tired

last night after putting yours and severus' daughter to bed, you felt that she would be up all night but weirdly enough she fell straight asleep. She hadn't been sleeping well lately and you usually had to wake up in the middle of the night several times to stop her crying. Severus tried his best to make you stay in bed and sleep while he went to tend to her but you often told him it was fine. However, tonight you were absolutely exhausted and sev could see that so he made sure that tonight you stayed asleep.

"she's finally gone to sleep sev" you told severus as you climbed into bed waiting for him to join you.
"if she wakes up tonight you have to let me go and put her to sleep my love, your so tired, look at you, your falling asleep already " he chuckled as he watched your eyes closing slightly.
you watched him as he walked slowly over to the bed in his silk pyjama trousers, dark green of course, and slid into bed with you.
"go to sleep now my love, you deserve it, that little trouble maker next door needs to let you sleep, hm?" said severus while he stroked your hair lightly and pulled you to his chest to keep you warm since you got cold often at night.
"goodnight sev, i love you"

"i love you too darling, sleep well"

you sighed in contentment as you felt his hands run through your hair as you finally closed your eyes.

You woke up to a cold feeling you often felt in the night, but this time you were even colder. you looked at the clock and it read 2:34 am. you turned around and saw that severus was gone but he made sure to keep the blanked tucked around you before he left. you began to panic thinking that something bad had happened to him until you heard faint whispers and hushes coming from your living room as you walked out of your room in you robe.
sat there on your dark green sofa was severus, cradling your 3 month old daughter in his arms. your heart swelled with happiness as you watched him rock her gently into his chest to try and get her to sleep.
you stood in the doorway and just watched your two favourite people in front of you

"shhh Eileen please, your going to wake mummy up and she is so tired because you keep her up every night" severus said barely above a whisper but you still heard'
"come one, sleeping isn't so bad, i know you want mummy, and daddy isn't very good at getting you to sleep but your amazing and beautiful mummy need her sleep hm.." you heart almost burst at his words of adoration towards you. you were so happy that he had woken up and taken care of eileen instead of waking you up, even though you are awake now.
"shh shh shh, its okay, don't cry baby it's okay, just please sleep or you'll wake mummy up... oh... hello love, how long have you been there?" said severus looking up at you in the doorway.
"not long, why didn't you wake me? i would have been fine to get her back to sleep you know that" you chuckled as you walked over to your husband and took a seat next to him as he watched your daughter slowly calm down.
"how do you do it, why doesn't she calm down when she sees me? am i a bad father to her or does she not feel safe and calm around me?" severus said with slight sadness as he looked down to the now calm baby.
"severus dont you ever think that, you ware such a wonderful father and she does love you you silly sod" you said truthfully. Severus ofter said these things, he didn't think he could be a good father after what his own did to him but you were proud of him for being the best possible father to your little eileen.
He looked at you and smiled and then your head snapped down quickly as you heard your baby giggle and smile as she saw her fathers smile.
"see look at her now, smiling up at you " you said as you rested your hands on his shoulder and then rested your head on your hands as you both stared at your giggling baby before you both joined her and started giggling and smiling.
severus rubbed his nose against eileens tiny little nose and she giggled again. He then turned to you and kissed your head as he inhaled the scent of your coconut shampoo that was so familiar to him now.
"i think it's time we got you back to bed eileen snape, dont you think hm?" severus cooed as you saw your daughters mouth begin to pout which reminded severus of what you did when you didn't get your way.
"dont give me that look, you look like your mummy when you do that face you little munchkin" said severus as he began to walk to your bedroom with eileen held protectively in one arm and his other arm wrapped loosely around your waist.
" you can sleep with mummy and daddy tonight eileen, how does that sound?" said severus but by the time you got to your bedroom door, she was already asleep with her head against her fathers chest and her hand holding on to his pyjama top in a tight fist.
you lay down under the blanked and severus placed eileen gently between the two of you as he slowly got into the other side of the bed.
" goodnight eileen snape" he said while he kissed his daughters temple gently, careful not to wake her.
you smiled at his softness towards your daughter " good night my love" you said as your eyes began to close once more
"good night love"
