Sword

<Rekshielv - short orange hair with blond highlights, heterochromic - yellow/green, 6'7 tall>

Intro

setting: middle of nowhere , no trees, no grasses, no oasis, no water, lots of dust

time: noon

*"I'm a wandering traveller after having enough with countless of fights. Nicknamed the "death-slate" from all the innumerable soldiers I've killed, even mine. I really didn't enjoy killing that much but one thing drove me mad, I DON'T WANT TO DIE YET. It was never because of fear. I just have this philosophy that I want to learn the most I could and I thought the battlefield would be a good academy than plotting the fields. So, I'm not planning to die at the moment. Good grievance, I was lucky to not have parents. My friend who wanted to join the war couldn't even come because his mother was furious about him getting killed.

I went on my own. Luckily, I had the potential of a warrior and climbed the painstaking slopes of knighthood. I had one of the highest position in the Circle of Knights in a short nick of time. It astounded the kingdom. For once in history, a very young man became the head of the knights. I was liked by the king so much and made me the general and even went as far as planning to dispose his current right hand and making me his'. That in turn disappointed me. So I ended up leaving my job and left the kingdom.

Call me high . I don't need to deal with another person who thinks I'm a serious nutcase. People get jealous and mad at me because I'm great. My head's got the top money on the bounty department in other kingdoms. Even as a retired big boss and a homeless maverick, people from far places wouldn't stop sending assassins to hunt me down. It never stop - just like this one."

A small mysterious dark figure stood far in front of Rekshielv as he slowly and calmly approaches it. Even if it didn't seem like it, his sword was in place, ready to be unleashed. One, two, three, the distance closed to thirteen feet. The dark figure dashed towards him like lightning and made him surprised. Never has he seen such great speed. Even with numerous opponents with fast pounces and dashes, his eyes could easily follow them, but not this one.

Rekshielv who had not any clue on where the figure is, sensed it behind him, and finally twirled fast towards its direction. A slash attack simultaneously proceeded but he instantly blocked it. The force of the continuous attack made him slightly backslide on the lifeless ground as dust shook at his heavy-geared boots. It wasn't strength he was dealing with this time unlike the men he had slain in the battlefield. It was speed. Although it seemed like they were at equal footing, Rekshielv hasn't eaten properly for days. How about the enemy? Has it had its fuel? Speed requires a lot of stamina in fighting. From the looks of its stance, it seemed prepared and full of vitality. Now, stamina is the factor that would settle the victory. Who will endure the scorching heat and the ticking time 'til one of them wears out?

The wind blew from east to west and something stirred Rekshielv. He hasn't been able to feel any excitement in fighting until now. The mysterious shadow was a worthy opponent. Still, something was amiss but he didn't mind it and kept going. Two hours had passed and his endurance started receding, same with his opponent. He wanted to prolong the fight but now wasn't the right moment. For the first time, an enemy gained Rekshielv's unnatainable respect.

After a serious blow between two weapons colliding, they were both thrown away by the impact - the dark figure higher and Rekshielv on lower ground. The arena was still in heat and ready for the final blow. The two of them could sense it. They stayed on their ground but after the wind has calmed, they both dashed towards each other head on. Pressure rose as the gap closed in. In a blink of an eye, an unexpected slash took place and it sent the dark figure flying in the air, instantly taking its balance as it hopped on the ground. Meanwhile, Rekshielv who was close to exhaustion looked back to see his opponent. He didn't want to kill the dark figure at all, it was written in his actions. He wanted to preserve it 'til the next true battle.

Sunset kissed the horizon to welcome the midnight's madness.

His eyes widened with surprise when he saw golden strands washed by the air from the dark shroud. One thing that struck him the most was the eccentric glow of those red eyes. Very fair complexion and a striking appearance - he was in awe. He thought of the irony of how the sun rises from the night sky while dusk fast approaches. And one thing more, he couldn't erase the fact that it was a she. Both of them were holding their ground** as Rekshielv stood there dumbfounded by the reality of being butt-kicked on equal footing by a girl and her mysterious appearance, not to mention her celestial beauty; and the female half-kneeling with a cat woman stance with one hand on ground retaining balance and the other supporting her ribs. She got sliced. She gritted her teeth, hissed and by the time a rush of sandy winds interfered their gaze, she blended with the dusty haze.

The wind stopped and gave Rekshielv back his flow of time. She was gone. Rekshielv unintentionally let out an "Oh" as if saying 'was that the final show?' It made his sound dense and a part of his pride tore off.

Two minutes of standing had passed and he still couldn't get over it. He let out a shriek of pain and realized he had a big bloody scar on his thigh prominent from all his exposed skin covered with many fresh small cuts. He hovered over the hurt and out of the blue his stomach cried out a loud grumble.

"Can this day get any worse?"

Hard to admit but that was a very bizarre encounter for him.

While physically and mentally...

on a very awkward position...

He

fell

to

the

ground.

*poof*

Author's Note: WHOOO!!! At least the intro is done. This was the very first time I ever composed an action story. Truth be told, it really fired me up. I still haven't done the cover yet, but I guarantee you it won't take a week. lolz. Okay so on the cover, you will see what Rekshielv would look like. Plus I still don't have photoshop so the cover will not be digital, hence the bad quality. If you see errors misleading you, feel free to inform me. This is not fully proofread but still lies under the copyright act. Thank you so much for taking your time reading this.

**A pause... A pause... A very loooooong pause... When I thought about this, I imagined Rekshielv and the dark figure in an intense atmosphere and a very loooooong pause that flies started coming and swivelling around their faces.
