ok so before you begin this story will contain, Blood, gore, injury, murder, assassination, torture, trauma (so much trauma), graphic description of violence and death, Muzan (he is his own trigger warning) cannibalism, Child abuse, Suicidal thoughts or actions, character death (nothing too major, hopefully) self-confident issues, eating disorders, unhealthy coping mechanism, Manipulation, past abuse, and Self-harm.

Chapter one: You make me forget who I am

It's a simple story or it should be, but then again when is anything simple. After all it is just a story about good and evil the same boring mumble jumble that you read about in class about how the hero triumph over evil and blah blah blah blah. Yeah, that load of bullshit. Let me try to simplify this for you dear reader, What's a hero and what's a villain? stuck are we?

Come on answer the question honestly it's not that hard it's simple after all the dictionary defines a hero as "a person of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his or her brave deeds and noble qualities." and a villain as "the person or thing responsible for specified trouble, harm, or damage."

See simple! well, it's actually not... the funny thing is these weren't the first definition to pop up for heroes or villains! Shocking right! isn't this when you had in mind when I asked you this question?

Well the first definition for the villain was actually "a character whose evil actions or motives are important to the plot." and a hero "A hero is a real person or a main fictional character who, in the face of danger, combats adversity through feats of ingenuity, courage, or strength." now you may be saying there's not that much different. But there is! You're just not looking in the right places. take a look again. Do you see it?

it's simple in the short term of it all. Both rely on each other to move the plot of the story forward, see simple? now I can hear you saying but that's what I said in the beginning! Ahh but you must have forgotten that this isn't a simple story nor is this a normal case of right and wrong and black and white.

Let's ignore the fact that they're anti-heroes and anti villains would you like me to go into those? Or how many shades of grey there are that make up the whole dam world, do tell me dear reader would you like me to go into those as well? No? is it because your tiny little minds can't possibly comprehend the difference. After all, why look at the shades of grey when you can just see black and white? Why look further than what the eye proceeds? Do you not want to see the truth? is it too painful for you? Well is it?

or is it because you don't want to take off your rose-tinted glasses and see the world for what it is? Is that it?

Well, then I guess that brings us back to our original question what is a hero and what is a villain? After all, you know what a hero is and what is a villain it's in the dictionary. But here is the big question whats makes a hero and what makes a villain? Don't have an answer? that's ok you don't need one right now. Because I'm going to tell you a story. why?

Because in the end, this is just another sad comical pathetic story of how the cicadas cried as the door was pried open on that hot summer night in Auguste several years ago. this is the story of those who get left behind and those who go down the wrong path. But most importantly it's a story of redemption.

August 7th, 1899

The forest was dense and think bright green leaves blew in the wind swaying back and forth.  A wolf cry went up into the night sky. Stars blink brightly against its milky blackness. Owl hoot from the trees their sharp eyes scanning for something to hunt to feed their families. The moon is full and bright casting shadows across the land making even the most innocent thing appear to be the most frightening.
