I actually didn't leave to go see Alex. I had to see Ivy. When I found the place empty with her sweater gone as well, I felt a mixture of relief and worry. Obviously, all I can do now is hope for her to find the note and call me. That. and try to ignore every fear-inducing thought that came to my head,
"Thank you for waiting! It's worth it. You'll see." Ed addresses the crowd. "Believe in her passion and your champion she'll be. Bombs can't stop her! Nor bullets, too! 'Cause, she's here to speak out and fight for you!"
The people raise their glasses and cheer. I smile and raise my glass along, as I lean against the stairs.
"Ready to battle?! Ready to rock?! People of the Narrows, here's the Doc!"
Lee walks down the stairs as the people cheer.
Ed gets down the stage and joins my side.
I feel his hand brush against mine, I look down at our hands scarcely touching. I look up at him, the moment our eyes meet he turns red and takes his hand away.
Without saying anything I wrap my arm around his. I smile and out the corner of my eye, I can see him smiling too."This morning, someone tried to kill me," Lee tells the crowd.
"What?", the crowd questioned out loud.
"Maybe it was someone from the outside. Maybe it was one of you. You know what? I don't know and I don't care. But what I do know is that someone did not like what I was saying. Now, why would the idea of a united Narrows scare people? I'll tell you why. Because a united Narrows is a strong Narrows."
As I look through the crowd of cheering people, I see Jim Gordon. My eyes widen in shock, this gave me more of a shock than when Alex showed up.
Ed must've noticed the startled look on my face, he wraps his arm around me.
"I could go distract him while you leave... if you want."
I look up at him, "You'd do that?"
"Of course." He plants a kiss on my head before leaving in Jim's direction.
It was my turn to become red-faced.
As soon as I catch eye of Ed speaking with Jim, I sneak away.
I know it'd be the right thing to have stayed and talk to Jim. After all, he cared for Rosabelle so much. But that's the problem, isn't it?
My phone rang as soon as I was outside. It was a number I didn't recognize, but that's not really important now is it?
"Hello?"
"Nice of you to leave a phone number. Could've also left an address.", the laugh. Their voice was feminine, silky, and mature also... familiar somehow.
"Who is this?"
"A friend. But if you're so eager to find out, come over."
"And where exactly can go over to?"
Maybe it wasn't the smartest choice to go unaccompanied to meet a stranger...
The place looked very fancy and dare I say expensive. I knock on the door and get no answer. I try a second time but again, nothing.
So I try the doorknob and I'm easily able to open the door. Before going in I take off one of my gloves, though I keep my hands in my pocket, in case I need it.
The place looked as fancy as it did from the outside. Even if it was a mess. All the tables being full of chemical supplies didn't help either."Good to see you came."
I turn to see the woman that must've been the one who called me. She wore a short black dress and her green eyes and ginger hair were familiar. But she wasn't the same type of familiar as Lee or Jim.
