I heard the loud thud of the front door closing, as I was snapped out of my slumber. When I looked at the clock on my bedside table, I looked to see that It was 2:00 am in the morning. Rubbing my eyes with my small fist I pulled my body in a sit up position on the bed.
I knew this was gonna make me sleep in class tomorrow and that's eventually gonna drown my grades all the way to the bottom of the sea. But I couldn't care about that right now. I was afraid. My heart beat a mile a minute and my fists griped tightly as nails dug in to my sweaty Palm. I breathed heavily through my nostrils and my muscles tenses from anticipation.
It wasn't anything unusual or new. I cursed at myself under my breath for getting nervous even though I knew what was soon to come.
Soon enough I heard the heavy stomps making their way up the stairs. My heart clenched and unclenched as I watched the knob of my bedroom door twist. A few seconds later my door was vigorously pushed open. And my eyes zoomed in to the staggering figure leaning against my door frame. I gulped an ice cube down my throat as I took in my fathers unstable, drunk appearance. He reeked of alcohol and cigarets. Even with the room dark, I could already imagine his blood shot red eyes as the loomed over my face in absolute disgust.
My heart stopped beating as I witnessed his large worn out boots drag across the floor and make their way to the side of my bed. As soon as he's in arms reach, he grabs a fist full of my hair and throws me across the floor while my blankets slips to the cold dirty ground. To made his way over to where my body lay limp on the ground. He then proceeds to kick me in the stomach repeatedly as I let out low whimpers and gather my knees to my chest to protect my already bruised stomach. After about 30 minutes or so he stopped his beating mercilessly, he spat on my hair and walked out the door to pass out on the couch.
I knew I wouldn't be able to get up and get to my bed with my bruised up, broken body, so I just laid there in the ground letting the cold ground ease my pain as I waited for the dawn to break it so I can escape my hell and flee to the safety of my school for at least six hours of my torturous day.
