The Way Things Should Have Been (A MikaYuu Fanfic)

Okay okay, before we get started, let's put some context here:

I wrote this fic in like mid-January and posted it on Archive. However, it barely got noticed. So what have I decided to do? 

Copy-pasted this angsty crap here!

I noticed that Wattpad's ONS fanbase is full of... anime watchers. I can tell that these people have never read the manga as I haven't found a single fic about what happens in the ongoing manga series. So, it's about time that changed.

Like I mentioned in the summary, this will be a TON of spoilers for the manga in this fix. So please, read it before I end up spoiling it for you. Trust me, a lot of shit happens there.

Also, there's a mild trigger warning in this: suicide/self harm is mentioned in this fic. So if that triggers you, I completely understand.

"Looks like you're finally awake,"

Upon hearing the familiar, sassy voice, Yuu awoke in the golden world within his cognition to see his demon, Asuramaru, perched on top of his sword.

"Asuramaru? Why was I asleep here?" Yuu asked, getting up from the ground.

Asuramaru frowned. "Are you kidding me? Do you seriously not remember?"

Yuu blinked in confusion. "Remember what?" he asked stupidly.

The violet haired demon rolled his eyes and jumped off of Yuu's katana. "You almost died. Again."

Yuu choked on his own spit upon hearing those words. "What?!" he exclaimed in shock.

"Yep, that makes your number of close calls two times." Asuramaru answered, clicking his tongue.

Yuu couldn't believe what he was hearing. He almost got himself killed again? What did he do this time, run into a horde of Four Horsemen Of John blindly? ...okay, even Yuu wasn't that stupid, but he didn't exactly trust himself.

"Your vampire boyfriend almost sucked you dry," Asuramaru stated. "I had to possess you for a few seconds in order to get his fangs off your neck. I brought you here so you can recover your blood supply safely."

Yuu barely focused on anything else his demon said other than the words "vampire boyfriend". "M-Mika isn't my boyfriend!" he stuttered.

"Oh sure, keep telling yourself that," Asuramaru teased. "Look at how red your face is right now. The entire goddamn fandom knows that you're-"

"La la la la la la, I can't hear you!" Yuu shouted on top of his lungs while covering his ears. "A-anyways! Why would Mika attempt to drain me? I gave him blood hours ago."

"Geez, do you have a severe case of amnesia or something?" Asuramaru scoffed. "You were the one who gave him his blood on your own accord. He didn't attack you for no reason. After all, Mika isn't that type of person." he explained.

"But why-"

"You basically gave up your own life to save his." the demon said bluntly, cutting Yuu off.

"What...?"

Then it all came back to him.

"Sword! Drink more! Drink every drop from this filthy body and spit it back out in his face!"

Yuu turned around to see Mika ordering his sword to consume more and more of his blood. He could see the pain on fatigue on the blond's face.
