Leaving

Eve's p.o.v.

"I REFUSE TO GO ALONG WITH THIS!" I shouted as I stood up from the dinner table slamming my hands down against it. My family was currently having dinner with the Zoldyck family and I had finally come to understand why the dinner had been arranged.

The Rose family and the Zoldyck family had been close for awhile now since both were highly skilled families of assassins. The only problem was that there hadn't been a pact between the two ensuring peace. Since my family were once and still are performers and not always assassins I could see why the Zoldyck's hadn't made one yet.

"Eve darling please reconsider your decision. This marriage will join our families keeping us from any fights between the two." My mother pleaded and I simply glared in her direction. Beside me sitting calmly was Illumi Zoldyck. He seemed to have no opinion in the matter but also seemed upset about my outburst.

"Oh come now Eve, you and my dear Illumi would make a lovely couple and just think of the children!" Kikyo exclaimed excited and I grit my teeth. They were trying to arrange a marriage between Illumi and I that I had no intention of agreeing to.

"I'm sorry but my answer is still no. I have no interest in marrying your son nor will I ever. Kill me if you desire but my answer will not change." I refused a little calmer now and I heard my mother sigh.

"Why must you be so difficult? This is a wonderful opportunity and you're just going to refuse it without a reason? I thought you liked Illumi. The two of you get along so well. This is the whole reason why I had you train and spend so much time with him" She questioned and my frown deepened as I stared into my mother's eyes.

"Mother an arranged marriage may have worked out for you and father but that is not what I want."

"Tell me Eve, why do you refuse to marry our son? Sonya has a good point that the two of you get along fairly well so why not? Do you not like him?" Silva asked in a calm tone as he gestured to my mother and I sighed.

"No sir that's not why. Your son is a wonderful man, charming, handsome, and could easily protect me and a family if we were to make one. Any woman would be lucky to have him as their partner however he doesn't show much emotion. That is why I refuse to marry him. I struggle to read his emotions most of the time and I do not wish to live the rest of my life with someone I cannot read. Not only that but I see Illumi as a close friend or a sibling rather than someone I'd love romantically." I answered honestly and the room was silent for a moment as my response was processed.

"Well I'm sure my dear Illumi could change and over time you'd grow to love him. Please just give him a chance." Kikyo insisted and I bit my tongue to prevent myself from lashing out knowing it wouldn't end well if I had. I had learned to gauge my opponent's strength and I already knew that I was no match against anyone in the Zoldyck family. The fact that I was still working out my nen abilities proved even more that I would die had I challenged any of them.

"Forgive me but my answer is still no." I answered and calmly walked away without another word.

"Eve Rose you get back here this instant! If you do not agree to this marriage right now then I will not hesitate to punish you severely for putting our family in danger!" Sonya threatened and I stopped in my tracks.

"Very well. Punish me if you must. Kill me if you wish. But my answer will stay the same." I stated calmly and walked away and into the garden. Despite how calm I may have seemed I'm sure they sensed my anger as I left the room. Once in the garden I sighed as I took my hair out of the bun it had been put in for the dinner with Illumi's family.

"I can't believe they would arrange such a thing without talking to me about it first. It's a decision that chooses my life not theirs."

"We didn't speak to you because we knew how you would react."

"Let me guess, mother sent you out here after me. Right father?" I asked calmly as I inspected one of the roses in the garden.

"Your mother just wants what's best for the family and you and so do I." He answered placing his hand on my shoulder and I glanced at him from the corner of my eye. My father had always been the more sensible one of my parents but it seems that they are together on this decision.

"And what is to happen if I don't agree to the marriage?" I asked turning my attention back to the rose in my hand.

"You will no longer be welcome here until you agree. Your actions will put the family in danger of conflict with the Zoldycks and we will not have your tantrum causing anymore trouble for us." He explained sternly and I sighed expecting this reaction from my mother. It surprised me that my father was agreeing to this punishment but I suppose I had no choice.

"Very well-"

"I knew you'd understand Eve. Now lets-" I cut him off as I turned to face him with an empty look void of emotion.

"I shall pack my belongings and leave immediately."

"Eve you can't be serious! Think about little Adam! He'll be heartbroken if he loses his big sister! You know how much he loves you!" He exclaimed and I frowned.

"Do not place the blame on me if he is unhappy with your punishment. You both made this decision. I'm just agreeing to your terms." I said coldly and made my way inside and to my room shutting the door behind me. Once inside I began packing my belongings and heard a soft knock at my door.

"Who is it?"

"It's Silva. I just want to talk." Silva responded and I sighed.

"Come in."

"So it's true. You're leaving your family?" He asked and I nodded.

"If they want to force me into something I do not wish to do than I will do what I must. Even if it means leaving Adam behind. He is a favorite in the family so I know he will be alright while I am gone."

"Is there any way you would reconsider?" He asked and I sighed.

"If I see a change in Illumi regarding his emotionless state then perhaps. Until then my answer remains the same."

"I understand. Just know that you are always welcome at the Zoldyck mansion. I enjoy your company and see you as one of my own. I also apologize for Kikyo's persistence." Silva offered and I smiled softly at him.

"Thank you Silva but I will be fine on my own." I responded and gave him a hug before heading out and leaving the mansion. As I stepped outside I was stopped by a small pair of arms wrapping around my leg.

"It's not true right big sis? You're not really leaving are you?" Adam asked looking up at me and I crouched down to his level as I wiped his tears away.

"I'm sorry Adam but it is. Mother and father don't want me here if I won't marry someone I don't love. I still love you with all my heart and I always will no matter what."

"I love you too big sis. Will I see you again?" He asked and I smiled softly as I hugged him close.

"Maybe one day we will. Until then never forget how much your big sister loves you." I kissed his forehead and ushered him back inside as I left.

Once I exited the gates I stopped and thought for a moment. I had been wanting a powerful nen ability that would require conditions and as much as it pains me I think I now know what those conditions will be.

In order for me to have enough power to use Musician's Assistant I will cut all ties from my family. Including my beloved Adam.
