"What happened?" all of them asked when I went back upstairs.

"He-we got information that someone set the fire. It wasn't an accident. He thinks it was me..." and then I told them all about what had happened.

"That is so mean!" Hanna said, "Let me at him, let me at him!" She started to punch the air but Miranda and I stopped her.

"Where's Claire anyway?" I asked, "She's never around anymore."

"Yeah. She just said that she had family stuff but I don't even know how," Hanna said, "I mean her parents are divorced but they still fight with each other. God only knows how that can happen. Her twin sisters fight with each other like wild animals, they're eighteen, they ought to have some sense and then there's her."

"It's a really complicated family." I said.

"We know." Both of them said together.

"Anyway," Miranda continued, "We wanted to talk to you before we were... interrupted." She looked at Hanna in the pause between 'were' and 'interrupted'.

"Yeah sure, what do you want to talk about?" I asked.

"It's just," Hanna said, "We think that... maybe... someone-"

"Is trying to kill you." Miranda finished for Hanna.

"What? That's ridiculous!" I said at the exact same time Hanna said, "Hey! That was my line!"

I gave Hanna a look that said 'seriously?'

"I know but think about it," Miranda said, "The fire, the brick, the knife at dinner the other night, it can't be a coincidence. Maybe someone is trying to kill you. Maybe instead of asking ourselves what could have caused the fire, we should have been asking ourselves who could have caused the fire."

"I don't know," I said, "But who would want to kill me? I don't have any enemies. I have always been a nice person-"

"Except one," Both of them said and looked at each other, "Victoria."
