Jack and Arcee were walking through the canyons outside Jasper Nevada on their way back to the Autobot base. They had been sent out to check the perimeter; something kept setting of the perimeter alarm and getting away without being seen. It had taken Jack and Arcee most of the day to find the culprits. Now it was early evening, Jack was a little tired but his mind was too preoccupied to notice. He had a dream about three weeks ago and it had forced him realize his true feelings. He had been trying to figure them out, ignore them, convince himself that they were nuts, or even convince himself that it could possibly work. The one thing he was sure of was that his feelings were real and they weren't going away.

Arcee was watching Jack out of the corner of her eye and she could see that he was getting tired. He had been forced to walk most of the day as her vehicle mode was not the best for off rodding. A lot of the canyons around here were okay for her but this one was too uneven. She could see that Jack was starting to lag a bit and wondered why he didn't ask to stop and rest. Arcee wished she understood humans as well as Bulkhead seemed too, but so much of what they did confused her. However in this case she felt she knew Jack well enough to see that something was on his mind and distracting him. She could see him glance up at her every few steps as if he were going to say something, but then he would look back at his feet and keep walking. Arcee saw a shadowy nook in the wall of the canyon ahead and decided to stop and get to the bottom of things.

Jack looked up as Arcee sat down. "Hey, Arcee, why are you stopping, what's up?"

"You tell me, Jack. You've been quiet most of the day. You don't do quiet, okay, compared to Miko you're quiet, but, not this quiet. Come to think of it you've been acting strangely for a while, so start talking."

Jack blushed and shuffled his feet uncomfortably. "Oh, you noticed that huh?"

"Kind'a hard not to, besides what kind of partner would I be if I didn't notice when something was eating my partner?"

Jack was embarrassed, how could he tell her what was bugging him? Would she even understand? He didn't even know if any of what happened in his dream could work."

"What's the matter, Jack, Scraplit got your tongue?"

"I don't think a Scraplit would be interested in my tongue, especially, not when it could have yours." he smiled at her.

Arcee stuck her metallic gray tongue out at him. Jack blushed again, he hadn't been sure she even had one, but seeing it, it struck him as very feminine and sexy. He gave himself a mental shake trying to get rid of that thought.

"Jack? Are you ok, Jack? You keep... changing color. Please tell me what's going on."

Jack thought for a minute trying to figure out how to broach the subject. He wasn't sure if he really wanted to, but maybe he could get some answers to the questions that kept coming up like obstacles in his path. He needed to know if what he wanted was even possible.

"Well, I do have some questions but I don't want to upset you by asking anything difficult or inappropriate."

"Humm, difficult and inappropriate questions; I've gotten into a lot of trouble over those." she laughed at a memory. "But, I find that those often have the most interesting answers. Besides, Jack, you and the others have done more for the Autobots than I ever thought possible, more than I thought any human could...or would if I'm honest. I think that earns you the right to ask some questions, even difficult or inappropriate ones, though I can't imagine what could be inappropriate about your questions."
