Her hands wrapped tightly around my wrists as she urged me towards the bathroom at the back of the canteen. We walked past two canteen vendors who glanced at us curiously while mumbling incoherent words to each other. Well, it did not bother me much as all my attention was placed on the girl who was pulling me by my arm. Assertively, yet, somewhat gentle.
Soon enough, we were then left alone.
Just the two of us.
I began cautiously removing my clothes, getting ready for a bath. With each piece of fabric falling of my body, my heart began racing. It started to feel as if my heart was going to implode inside my body. Somehow, despite not looking at her, I could feel an intense stare, engraving into every nook and cranny of my body. Forcing me to look the other way even though I secretly loved every second of it.
Separating us was a thin, flimsy plastic divider that was too short to block either of our sights from each other. In front of me stood a mirror, right above a small sink with some small stains around it.
As the shower water ran down my head, I secretly glanced up at the mirror, hoping to get a peek of her and noticed her eyes peering over to me as well.
My heart jumped back into my chest as I squatted down and curled into myself in sheer embarrassment, using my hands to cover my face.
She came around the corner and towered over my cowering body.
Her hands gently traced down my arms, to my feet and up to my thighs.
She whispered, as if to tease, "That's what I like."
We moved to the walls of the bathroom and sat beside each other. At that moment, I was overcome by the urge to hold her hand but I was too nervous. Instead, she took me by surprise as she grasped my hand and gave me a clay ring that was seemingly too long and wide for my finger.
"Our promise ring," she said, as a loving smile was casted over her face.
I shyly took the ring and placed it on my finger. As out of place as it looked, it looked perfect.
I laid my head on her lap as we took comfort in each other's presence. Exchanging small, flirty banter as time passed us by.
Ding dong... ding dong...
Recess was over and her classmates were coming back. The best moments seem to whizz past so quickly. As the footsteps outside the bathroom began to increase, the bathroom began to take a different form. The whole scenery slowly morphed into a classroom and her classmates began streaming in through the door.
I immediately shot up and got off my seat, preparing to make a leave. Then, a girl came in and sat right next to ___, pushing her body up against ___. That girl's eyes shifted towards me as she smiled coyly while waving goodbye. I smiled nervously and looked at ____. She gave me a somewhat pained-yet-trying-to-be-reassuring smile as she waved back at me.
