An orphan stood at the base of the ladder.
The winds blew and rain poured from the ominous dark clouds above.
As if the gods themselves wept at the face of this tragedy.
A man stood at the bottom of the cobbled stairs.
A shell of a man.
A human being lost in his own ramblings , the fire in his eyes extinguished forever.
A man who had killed a part of himself.
A living ghost of wilbur soot.
He held his father on his lap , caressing his hair.
His warm blood still oozing out of his body and into Wilburs lap, drenching the soil with its red stain.
The fingers that once held little Wilbur as he learned how to walk , now lay motionless.
His eyes closed forever.
People would say that he would rest in peace , but not Wilbur.
He had seen what nobody else had.
He had seen panic seize hold of his father as he fell backwards.
He saw betrayal and fear in those eyes which had said nothing but serenity before.
A man who led his life with courage and bravery, died with fear in his heart.
The son didnt have tears in his eyes.
Guilt and pain had gnawed away every human emotion in his heart.
His Dadza
Killed by his own son.
He looked up to the sky and called out to the gods above
" Why this cruel irony ?
I should die for my own sins
And yet my father is dead.
He was the finest being that You had ever created
HE DESERVED TO LIVE
If it is a death that you want, then ye shall have it.
Take not Phil's life, but mine.
A soul for a soul
A life for a life."
He didnt care if his sacrifice would work or not.
Were his prayers going to be answered ?
How did it matter ? He was already dead inside.
His had pushed his sense of puropose down a platform and watched it die
He kissed his father on his forehead .
"I will wait for you dadza..... We shall meet again in the afterlife " and placed him gently on the ground.
As he climbed the stairs of the platform, he could see the sun rising up on the horizon.
The first rays of the rising sun shone on his face as if blessing his endeavours .
As he closed his eyes for the final time , he opened his arms wide....
And swan-dived downwards.....
The world went black
