"(y/n)? Where are you?" Steve called, walking around with bucky on his hip.
"(y/n)!" Bucky shouted, Steve flinching.
"Here I is," You called, crawling out of your hiding place with a grin.
The Avengers were surprised at how fast you and Bucky warmed up to each other, but they weren't surprised that you and Bucky fought over a lot of the toys...
And Steve.
"Halloween is tomorrow," Steve said, managing to put you on his other hip. "Have you thought of what you wanted to dress up as?"
"I is Taptin 'Merica!" Bucky said excitedly as you rested your cheek on Steve's shoulder.
"I be Hulk, be-becas I wanna make Bru happy." You explained, not seeing the way Steve smiled.
"I think he'll like that." Steve hummed. "Shall we make it a surprise?"
"Yea!" You said excitedly. "No tell Bru, otay?"
"We won't tell him, won't we Bucky?" Steve asked and Bucky nodded.
"We goin' to get candy, right?" Bucky asked.
"We sure are." Steve nodded, entering the elevator to go to the living area. "We're going to carve and decorate pumpkins, watch some movies, and we'll go out Trick-or-Treating a little before nightfall with the rest of the team."
"But - but what if you go on mission?" Bucky asked quietly.
"Well, right now it's looking like we won't get called out, but if we do then we'll have a make-up day for missing it, okay?" Steve asked.
"Otay," You and Bucky murmured in unison.
"Did you get them?" Tony asked as Steve left the elevator to where the rest of the team was.
"What does it look like, Tony?" Steve sighed, bending slightly to let you out of his arm when you made grabby hands for Bruce.
Bruce easily took you in his lap, letting you cling onto him.
"You otay?" You whispered, snuggling your face against his shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm okay." Bruce whispered back, rubbing your arm gently.
Time skip to the next day...
You woke up when the sun hit your face, making you scrunch your nose and turn away from the brightness.
You hated it when the sun was the reason you wake up, preferring being able to decide on your own when to be awake.
But today, once you remembered what was planned, you didn't complain and quickly shot out of bed.
In your haste to get out of your room, you tripped and fell on your front, banging your knee in the process.
"Whoa," Steve quickly rushed to where you lay frozen, beginning to cry. "Aw, kiddo. You were too excited, weren't you."
You nodded, burrowing your face into his neck.
"Let me see, are you bleeding?" Steve asked, gently prying your head back to look. "You look okay. Does anything hurt?"
"My knee." You answered, starting to cry again.
"Okay, let's have a look at it then." Steve murmured, rubbing your back to calm you down as he laid you on the changing mat. "We can change your diaper while we're at it, okay?"
You nodded, watching as he examined your knee.
"It otay?"
"It's bruised, but other than that I think it'll be okay." Steve said, booping your nose making you giggle.
After getting you changed and ready for the day, he carried you to the kitchen where Clint was giving food to Bucky.
"Hey munchkin," Clint greeted, gesturing to the second high chair where your breakfast was waiting for you.
Steve set you in your chair, buckling you in before you started to eat, mindlessly talking to Bucky.
"Who's ready for Halloween?" Natasha asked while entering, enlightening happy squeals from you and Bucky.
"Whoa whoa whoa, too early for that noise." Tony said with a small grin, also entering the kitchen.
"Oh c'mon, Tony." Clint complained. "They're excited to decorate pumpkins and dress up and get candy."
"Okay, but they can wait until noon to squeal." Tony said and you giggled when he winked.
"Alright," Bruce sighed, entering with Thor and a wagon carrying enough pumpkins so that everyone could do their own. "One for each of us. Decorate wisly."
Once everyone had finished eating, Steve and Nat started putting newspapers and paper towels on the table before Thor and Clint started putting the pumpkins on top.
To say you and Bucky had a blast was an understatement. The team allowed the two of you to help decorate their pumpkins, and seeing the way your faces lit up made it worth it.
Once all of the pumpkins were done, you and Bucky begged to get in your costumes, so Steve took Bucky to get ready and Nat helped you. She was the one who had the most make-up experience, and you wanted to make sure that Bruce loved your costume.
And boy did he.
You had thought that when he put his face in his hand that he was upset, and you were about to ask Nat to take the green face paint off but when Bruce looked at you again with a wide smile you realized he wasn't upset.
Sure, because of your headspace you couldn't understand why he looked so...delighted and was it relief? But Tony had pulled you aside to inform you that Bruce was thrilled with your choice of costume.
After Steve brought Bucky back in his Captain America outfit, the two of you had a quick play fight before Tony set up the first movie: It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.
After that, you picked Monsters, Inc. and Bucky picked Monsters University after that.
It was only when Clint whispered the word 'candy' that had you and Bucky getting up.
You and Bucky led the way around the small neighborhood Steve and Bruce brought you to, making sure that you went to all the houses. You had so much fun that you easily passed out that night, having only eaten one fourth of your bag.
The following day, you realized just how much the team loved you, and how much you loved them. Sure, you missed your family greatly, but you knew that these guys - supersoldiers, a literal God, trained assassins, and highly intelligent people - would go great lengths to keep you safe.
You had another family, and another home. And you were happy.
This is the end, I hope you enjoyed it.
