Boruto was well known for his wild and rambunctious behavior, much like his father was at that age. He always did things in a hurry, not taking time for minute details or much care in tedious tasks. Yet he sat in the middle of the floor in his room carefully wrapping the limited edition mystery novel with extreme care and precision. He used a precise length of dark black wrapping paper, and carefully folded the paper neatly around the frame of the hardcover book. A red bow was placed directly in the center of the wrapping paper. Boruto put much thought into this, having the wrapping paper represent her dark black hair, and ruby red bow represent her sharingan and glasses. He also got a card signed from everyone in his family to go along with it. He couldn't help putting a thunder burger coupon in the card as well.

He knew Sarada was an early riser, so Boruto made sure to go to bed early the night before so that he would have time to eat breakfast and be the first person to give Sarada a gift and wish her a happy birthday on her special day. The only other person awake at the Uzumaki household when Boruto left was his mother, who had begun preparing breakfast for the family besides Naruto, who was already hard at work at the Hokage office. With the perfectly wrapped book and card in hand, Boruto departed for the Uchiha residence.

"Okay mom, i'm off! No need to make me lunch or anything, i'll probably just go to thunder burger. Bye, love you!' Boruto said while on his way out.

"Take care Boruto, tell Sarada we all wish her a happy birthday!" Hinata called out to him as he opened the front door.

Boruto hurried his way to Sarada's house with excitement and anticipation in hopes that Sarada would love the gift he got for her. Once Boruto reached her house, he hopped up to the Balcony where Sarada's room was. Boruto reached his hand towards the sliding glass door to knock, but paused when he heard a muffled sob on the other side. Sarada was crying. It took Boruto a few moments to try and figure out why Sarada would be crying, especially on her birthday, but then it dawned on him. Sasuke wouldn't be here for yet another one of Sarada's birthdays.

Boruto new the feeling of not having your father around for your birthday, however he acknowledged that it was different in Sarada's case. Sarada could count on her fingers the number of times she's seen her dad at all, not just on special occasions. She was accustomed to not having her father around on days like these, but the familiarity didn't make it any less painful.

Boruto briefly considered leaving and coming back later, but quickly decided to knock instead.

Sarada paused her crying momentarily, and almost instinctively, Sarada knew who it was on her balcony.

"Go away Boruto." Sarada demanded with a weak voice, completely opposite her usual assertive yet vibrant tone.

Boruto stood motionless on the Uchiha girl's balcony and gave no response.

Sarada had wiped her tears and let out a heavy sigh. She knew very well that Boruto wasn't one to back down once he had made his mind up. And even though she didn't want to admit it, she could use a friend at a time like this. Her mother was already at the hospital and wouldn't be home for Sarada's birthday until later that evening. Sarada let out another heavy sigh before opening the sliding glass door.

Sarada had only gotten one foot onto the balcony before Boruto took her by surprise with a tight embrace. Sarada was stunned for a moment as Boruto's arms wrapped tightly around her, but it did not take her long to hug the blonde back. Boruto didn't know how long they stayed like that, but he didn't let go of Sarada until her breathing had returned to normal. When he finally let her out of his embrace, he couldn't help but blush slightly after realizing how long he held her for. Sarada blushed slightly as well, quickly glancing over the balcony to avert Boruto's gaze.
