Breathless

Loren woke up. She didn't know why, but she couldn't fall asleep again. Why the hell am I here?
This thought had been running through her mind all day, for almost 16 years, and it wouldn't let her go.
Tomorrow it would 16 years, but this thought just made her more confused. Breathe, just breathe, and it will go away.
The words of her mother came back like little birds after the rain. She knew everything would change with her birthday, even though nobody was supposed to tell her anything.
Are you awake honey?
Yes what's up?
Loren was surprised to hear her mother so early, maybe her dad left for a visit in a town or something.

Athena was terrified when she saw the royal carriage appearing at the horizon. Maybe she had enough time to tell the others before they arrived, but the carriage moved really fast. Then I will have to be fast too. She thought by herself, when she rang the bell three times and jumped from the wooden tower, she had spend the last 10 hours on.
Three minutes if she moved the fastest maybe two.
She ran all the way through the forest, leafs in her hair and dirt over her lags, but she didn't stop.
She was breathless when she arrived but that wasn't important. After she caught breath again she told the others about the wagon. Silence was the answer.
Everyone was scared.
