Summary of the Past of the Ileobeolin Kingdom (잃어버린, lost):King Gwangki (광기, insanity), who had ruled in the kingdom by force for 3 years starting in the Year of Curses (Year 8035), became terminally insane. Nightmares of his mem betraying him haunted him. Therefore, he decided he must take action or else he would truly die.
He had all those who had helped him to overtake the thrown murdered.
His guards, secretaries, eunuchs, maids, attendants; everyone was to be found dead by his own hands.
Any man that was related to him, no matter how distant, was also executed inorder to preserve the throne.
Even his own wife had her neck slit by his hand out of fear of betrayal.
His only close person whom he let live was his sole heir; a princess named Yeokeol (여걸, heroine/female hero), who became limp in the right leg due to an accident at birth. (As she was born, the doctor's hand slipped and his bodyweight crushed the newborn's leg. He was promptly beheaded for his crime.)
Gwangki cared for Yeokeol and only her. He cared so much, in fact, he prayed for a god of healing to come to her and fix her leg so she would be an acceptable heir.
He prayed fervently, sacrificing what he could and pleading on his knees until his hands bled from the wood floors, for days upon days and nights upon nights. And then, finally, in Princess Yeokeol's 18th year of life in the universe, in the year of the Moon Goddess Dallim (달님, Moon Goddess in Korean mythology) (Year 8040), a God of Healing, that went my the human name of Mingyu, was sent forth to the royal family from the heavenly palace of the Gods.
Gwangki promptly entrapped him under a portal, hiding him from the girl once he saw the god's beauty. He was tall, well-built, skin golden as the morning sunlight. The eyes he held were warm and kind, with a puppy-like playfulness hidden in them. The turquoise sword at his side shone in the power of the Gods.
"You may heal her when I send her to this place, but only my grasping her fingertips. Nothing more or I shall kill you."
That was the commandment Mingyu had agreed to in front of the mortal King.
That was the commandment he broke as soon as he laid his curious eyes upon her. The small, beautiful human girl that he was sent to heal. Her long, dark hair was tied back but the tips flowed free. Her dress was long yet fitting, showing her slender figure, and the pale pink silk shone softly in the little light in the cellar.
She had fallen through the portal enclosing him into his lavish prison.
Mingyu watched as she limped to hide, not knowing where she was, with a lighthearted smile playing on his lips.
The tan floor and purple walls were unfamiliar to her, as were the sounds of water rushing around the walls of the underground prison and the dim lighting of the room.
She scrambled her way into a corner and made herself small, trying to hide herself more.
He chuckled to himself and made himself visible to her.
She seemed terrified at first, but his smile comforted her.
They grew close fast, meeting nightly after the King fell asleep and falling in love quickly.
To heal her, Mingyu held her gentle face in his warm hands and placed his soft lips upon her delicate ones.
The kiss would often warm to the point of him directly touching her limp leg, the power of his healing working much faster and more efficiently.
This lasted for 4 months. Once she was healed, Mingyu had suprised her with a gift of a ring from a piece of his sword as a token of his love and a promise to marry her as soon as possible.
Then Gwangki found them.
As swiftly as he had said, Mingyu was sentenced to death and disappeared.
In order for his precious daughter to find peace, however, Gwangki had her memories of him erased. She was instead told that she had been sent to another palace to heal.
The portal was covered with a rock door that only a spell could open.
Suddenly, however, Gwangki died in the Year of Vengeance (Year 8041), giving in to his insanity and falling into the Lake of Sinners and ultimately his life was ended by drowing.
A written record of the past that had been held in secret in the King's quarters was found.
It was written in a language only he knew, but servants suggested to the new Queen Yeokeol that it held the secrets to her inheritance and that she must figure out what is written in the pages.
The following story is the journey of Gwanki to figure out her father's last words and to find what she felt that she had been missing.
Will she be able to find him?
