Chapter One: "Things That Lovers Do"

With their anniversary coming up a week from now, Ben and Miranda had already agreed to stay home and celebrate with the boys.  With all of the back-to-back surgeries, they just didn't have the energy to do anything special, but in the back of her head, as much as Miranda loved her boys, she wanted to spend some alone time with her husband.  That being said, she worked up the energy to plan and arrange to surprise Ben on their anniversary.  Ben headed out for work while everyone slept, just leaving Miranda and the boys in the house.  Before driving Tuck to school, she decided to speak to him and Joey about her plans.

"Boys!" she called upstairs, "Come down here, I want to talk to you guys about something important."

Tuck: "Good morning, Mom. What is it?"

Joey: "Good morning, Miranda."

Miranda: "Good morning, I'm glad Ben left early, it gives me time to tell you about the surprise I'm trying to do for our anniversary."

"What surprise?" Both boys asked with a confused look.

Tuck: "I thought you guys weren't doing anything special?", Tuck asked.

"Well, we weren't, but after I thought about it, I wanted a private night with just the two of us." Miranda responded.

Tuck and Joey looked at one another with a confused and disgusted look on their faces.  Miranda looked at them and proceeded to explain what she needed the boys to do. "You can go to your friends, I know you asked to go, so now is the time.  I'll need you out of the house all day tomorrow, so you should go and pack a bag before school and put it in the trunk. Joey, I'll come back to pick you up this evening after I get Tuck from school.".  "Okay, I'll pack my bag." Joey answered on the way upstairs.  After the boys finished packing their bags and putting them in the trunk, Miranda and Tuck said goodbye to Joey and rushed to the car to make sure Tuck made it to school on time.  Arriving at school, Tuck jumps out of the car waving goodbye while Miranda tells her to have a nice day.

Fews Hours Later

Due to her schedule being clear this morning, Miranda spent hours in her office planning the surprise for her Ben. Although, they agreed to keep things PG and hang out with the kids. She wanted to do this for Ben because he was always the one planning romantic evenings for the two of them and she wanted to show her appreciation and switch roles for once. Searching the internet and making phone calls all morning, Miranda started to get a little discouraged due to it being so hard to find a private chef in such a short period. She wanted a private chef, three-course meal, custom-made menu, music, rose petals, candles, she also wanted to pull out their custom-made wedding plates, wine glasses, silverware. She also wanted to recreate their wedding garter moment.  While being paged to the E.R., she remembered that she needed a way to keep Ben out of the house for a few more hours while she puts everything in place.  Knowing it would be hard keeping him away until the proper time; she spotted Dean bringing in a patient & she pulled him to the side to ask him about stalling Ben.

"WOAH", Dean yelled while being pulled around the corner. "Dr. Bailey, what is it...  Bailey, what in the world... " He asked while fixing his clothes

"Sorry, I didn't want anyone to hear our conversation." She replies "Listen, I'm trying to plan a private intim-" Dean instantly cuts her off with both hands in the air as if he was surrendering. "I'm sorry, Dr.  Bailey, but you know that Warren and I are buddies, right? " Bailey looked at him squinting her eyes, "Shut up, Dean!  I need you to do me a favor; tomorrow is our anniversary and I need Ben out of the house for a couple of hours of overtime. Do you think you can hold him at the station while I sort things out? " Smirking at Miranda, Dean agreed to the plan.  "All right, but what time should I let him go?", "Oh, around 8:00."
