Fight or Flight. A natural instinct most living creatures have when faced with something that could possibly harm them.
Facing the two pro heroes in front of me my instinct was telling me to flee. To get away as fast and far as possible. It was ridiculous to feel that. The two in front of me didn't pose any physical threat but that gut instinct that I was in trouble pulled at me causing my entire body to tense and go on guard.
"Well you look familiar," a loud voice yelled out grabbing my full attention. My hands were clenched at my side while I mentally began deciding the best course of action to take.
Should I leave and come back?
No. That would make me late and they would still see me at some point. Can't avoid them completely if they were going to be colleagues.
Ignore them?
No. Both of them knew that I had seen them and the way the blonde was smiling left no chance.
Play dumb?
Perfect.
"Sorry today is my first day. I'm supposed to be meeting up with Principle Nezu to go over my contract. I'm Tyga." I said opting to sticking with my hero name while offering a professional smile to the blonde.I was trying my best not to glance over at the ravenette that was staring holes into my head as if trying to remember something. Luckily when I saw the blonde last night he was already drunk and singing in the corner with other people.
"That so? I'm Present Mic." He sung out "This tired looking guy is Eraser Head." he finished gesturing to the shorter of the two. Turning my eyes to meet the man, I tried my best to ignore the back flips my stomach was doing when our eyes met again.
"Hello," I said trying to keep my voice even. Before quickly tearing my eyes away and looking to Mic. "I'll go ahead in. I look forward to working with you."
"You too man," Mic said cheerfully while watching me retreat into the school building. "Shouta you okay. You look like you've seen a ghost."
"I'm fine," Came the low reply before starting toward the entrance himself. There's no mistaking it. That's definitely the guy from last night and this morning. So why is he acting like this is our first time meeting?
~~
Darting as fast as I could to get to Principle Nezu's office I tried my best to squash whatever feelings had just sprouted from learning that I was now colleagues with my late night fling.
"Shouta" I mumbled turning a corner. The name falling off my tongue as easily as breathing. I could still hear his voice in my ear last night as I leaned in, him whispering his name like it was a secret, only for my ears to hear.
I shook my head trying to rid it of the echoes. From the way Shouta was staring at me he remembered something from last night. I just didn't know how much. He looked more confused than anything. Almost as if he'd seen someone familiar but couldn't put a name to the face. Hopefully he never would. It wasn't the time for a new relationship. Like Atsumi said it was time to focus on myself. I got an amazing job and new home. A fresh start. Away from all the disaster that has been my life for the last year.
I knocked lightly on the door in front of me waiting patiently for an answer. A light "come in," made it's way through and I pushed the door open to be met with Nezu himself. His small white form sitting behind his desk while taking a sip from a steaming cup. From the smell it seemed to be green tea. I tried my best not to scrunch up my nose at the scent.
"Ah Kai Kagami or would you prefer me to call you by your hero name?" He asked setting his cup down gently.
"My hero name please," I said not moving from my position.
