Anastasia

Just jump off the cliff already.

"Ugh."

I can't watch this fool anymore, trying to take his life for what, tenth time? I thought to myself as I turned around to walk to my pink Chevrolet Tahoe.

Yeah, I know that's too extravagant for the goddess of death but let's face it, baby, I've got a class to maintain and my cool to keep. Can't go invisible in front of humans so why not adopt their lifestyle?

I open up my door and sit inside, the engine roars to life and I select my current favorite playlist from Spotify to play while I tap in my next location in google maps to pick up the soul of a 70-year-old guy who died from a heart attack in outskirts of the town. I know I don't need these human things but when I am on display mode, I enjoy the small things of human life like these, enjoying a bit never harms anyone, does it?

I take one last look at the guy trying to jump off the cliff and do a double-take on not finding him there anymore, I quickly scan through the list of souls to pick up today and do not find him there, taking a deep breath, I get out of my car, I look around and am disappointed on not finding him nearby crying his balls off like the first time. I mean it's not like he cried again after the first failure but hoping for some drama is fun.

I walk to the edge of the cliff and peer down.

"Not again!" I huff.

He lies down there laughing while clutching his stomach, tears falling down his eyes, a light tint of pink surrounding his ears as he laughs miserably.

I sigh deeply and turn to leave as my watch ticks urging me to use my vanish mode as I've already wasted a lot of time, and mundane ways of traveling would slow me down.

I look once again at him but am struck at how he stands there staring at me or should I say up because he definitely can't see me. His wet eyelashes look beautiful as he stares thinking how to get out maybe? I shrug away the feelings and step back.

"Won't you help me out?" I hear a voice.

It's him and I know he is calling out to me. But how? Didn't I just turn myself into my 'goddess mode' as some might like to call it.

I look at him, frowning slightly.

"How am I supposed to help you? How did you even survive the fall?"

He shrugs at me and it's the most mundane thing which irks the shit out of me. Humans can be so annoying at times. At moments like these, I enjoy the privilege of being a God, even if it is the one loathed by all but hey, who cares?

I walk to my car and take out rope which lies there for God knows what reason. Ahh, it was kept by my human boy servant at home, he thought a girl living alone should've everything of need. A good little soul he has, I would hate to take his soul when the time would come but I enjoy what I do so I'll still do it. My job is heartless, baby. If I started being generous, I'd be banished by those above me. I have powers but not enough to be generous.

I tie the rope to the nearby tree checking it for its firmness and drop the other end to the boy standing with an amused smile playing at his lips and wait for him to climb up. His trekking is definitely helping him at the correct moment.

I stand leaning against the tree as he walks to me and unties the rope from the tree.

"Do you hate me that much?" he asks me.

Stunned for a moment, I stare at him.

"What? Why would I hate you?" I retort, trying to keep my voice as neutral as possible.

I look at my watch once again, five minutes have passed since his death, I need to hurry else the soul would escape, and using my powers to find it would be a bother.

"Looks like someone is waiting for you, we can meet again." He smirks as he hands me the rope. His fingers lightly brush my hand and I feel a sensation unknown to me.

I stare at his retreating figure, making sure he is far away before vanishing into thin air forgetting to keep the rope back in the car and land at the place just in time to find the soul hovering in the space probably figuring out what is happening.

"Hello, Mr. Robert." I smile and acknowledge Serine and Kedith, who already guided him through the process.

Serine and Kedith are my assistants, of course, I couldn't do this job by myself so they do most of the work I think.

"Let's walk out together, shall we? I am sure, my friends have already guided you through the process, don't worry. I will make this process easy for you."

Kedith and Serine look at me with questioning eyes. Ahh, they know me and know that me being late to my job is definitely a first. Well, as humans say there is a first for everything.

Just like I had arrived, we vanish with lost Mr.Robert's soul with us.
