Chapter 31
Two weeks have passed. Logan and I were not labelling whatever it was that we were doing. We called it ‘dating’. Mark and Kayla were ecstatic about the news but they kept their enthusiasm at bay. Kayla was doing well with Robert. There was not much fighting going on yet. Mark had been stalked by some guy. At first, we thought he could be dangerous but he was just a fireman that wanted to take him out. Mark had played hard to get, not really interested. But, he liked the attention. Oh well. That was just Marky.
It was also two weeks since Dave’s wedding. He had sent me a postcard from Italy, telling me how he was faring. We were on speaking terms now. I still feel an ache when I think about the wedding ring on his finger so I knew I may still have feelings for him. But, when Logan is around me, I seem to lose all coherent thoughts. Especially when he kisses me or holds me in his strong arms.
Logan knew about my feelings for Dave. He made it very clear. He was not happy about it but he was determined to change my mind and heart. Right now, I was not really sure how I felt about that.
“What would you like to do?” Logan asked, watching me from across the table.
He had come to pick me up from the cafe but we ended up talking and having dinner there. Logan had been working crazy shifts where he was exhausted whenever he came home. We had not been able to sit and talk. Like now.
“I want to bungee jump. Sail a boat,” I listed, smiling. “Have one unforgettable kiss. Do something totally crazy and illogical.”
He laughed. “But, what is the one thing that you used to really want when you were a kid that you still haven’t got?”
“Oh, I don’t know. Own a jellybean factory?” I asked, shrugging.
Logan’s blue eyes shone. “Jellybean factory? I thought you would want a chocolate factory instead.”
“Well, I love chocolates. But if I own a factory of it, I could get too used to chocolates. It won’t be special anymore,” I explained.
His face broke into a huge smile. Amusement danced behind his eyes. “No, seriously. There must be something.”
I bit my lip, thinking. Logan was always the one asking me questions about myself. His interest in me made me suspicious. But, the genuine interest I saw in his eyes told me he really wanted to know who I was. I then, started to let myself enjoy the attention.
“I want to fall in love with someone who loves me just as much,” I admitted, smiling shyly as I felt a slow blush creep up my neck. “It’s just a young girl’s dream.”
Logan’s blue eyes lighted up with wonder and tenderness.
“What else did that little girl dream about?” he urged, blue gaze watching my expression closely.
“Not being so nerdy,” I said, laughing at how ridiculous I was in the past. “I wore these glasses that made me look like such a dork.”
Logan smiled at my jovial laugh. “You must’ve looked adorable.”
I shook my head, frowning. “You would probably walk right past me if you were there.”
“I doubt that,” he defended himself.
I grinned. “You would. Look at you. You’re probably the heart throb in high school, right?”
Logan shrugged, a secret smile on his lips. “No, I wasn’t.”
I pursed my lips. “You’re much too modest.”
He grinned, a twinkled in his eyes. His eyes glanced out the window, an impish glint in them. I frowned as I sipped my coffee, knowing that look. He was thinking of something. Something that was usually crazy.
