It all started with two teens. A girl named Amy, and a boy named Dave. Amy and Dave were walking down the sidewalk of the new town that they and their parents had just moved into, Melview, when they noticed something strange. Strange energy, strange weather, and a strange fortress. They read a plaque on the wired fence. It said: "The Melview Fortress, 1979 - 2015." And that was the mayor's lifespan! (He only lived to 33.) As they got closer and closer to the fortress, the strange energy got stronger and stronger. They were about to go into the yard when they heard a voice say "Please... Go away... I don't want to hurt anybody.." They ignored the voice and continued on. And again they heard a voice. "Really... Please..." It sounded as if it were scared.
"We don't want to hurt you." Amy said.
The voice replied, "Well... What do you want?"
"All we want to know is what this place is."
"Oh, is that all? Well come on in!"
They all went into the fortress and as they entered, they saw a figure in the shape of a average sized man.
"I am the former mayor of Melview! And what are your names?" The mayor, now known as Patrick, asked.
"My name is Amy. This is Dave. He can't talk."
"And why is that?" Patrick asked.
"He is mute."
"Oh... Does he know sign language?"
"Yes, but I don't know much sign language."
"Oh, I do! I could teach you!" The figure looked as if it were excited, you couldn't see its face, but you could tell.
"Yes! Anything so I can understand my brother!"
"Oh, Dave is your brother?"
"Yes."
"Okay. Well, Amy, Dave, come with me.
"Why?"
"To learn sign language."
"But Dave already knows it."
"You don't want him sitting out here alone do you?"
"Good point." They all went into the other room where she would learn sign language. Or would she?
"This means one... Um.. This means 93,852?"
"No, it means pie." Dave signs, even though they don't understand him.
Two weeks later Amy eventually learned full, correct, sign language.
"Now Dave, what was it you were saying a while back?"
"I said, it doesn't mean 93,852, it means pie."
"Oh!" Amy said while laughing. "And he tried teaching me sign language? Ha!"
"I heard that!" Patrick yelled.
"Sorry!", "So, Dave, now that I know what you're saying, what's up?
"Life..." Dave replied.
"I see.." She says with a smirk on her face.
"So, really, whats up?"
"Ahem! The fortress?" Patrick said as if he were annoyed.
"Oh, yeah.. The fortress.. Come on, Dave."
They, again started following Patrick. As they went, they passed a bunch of rooms. Amy was very interested with the rooms, without even going in them! "Hey, why don't we go into some of these rooms?"
"Because I have one specific room I want to show you."
"Oh.. Ok."
"But on the way there, why don't we talk a little?
"Ok, what about?"
"Well, we can talk abo--"
Amy interrupted, "Sorry, I have a question. Why did you try teaching me sign language if you didn't even know it?"
"I wanted to impress you. Other than my wife, it gets kind of lonely here. I'm sorry."
"If it gets lonely, why don't you just go somewhere and say hi to someone?"
"Well, I'm a ghost, if I say hi to someone they either don't hear me, or get so scared they move away from Melview."
"Whoa, hang on.. Move away?!"
"Yeah... Anyway.. We're here!"
"That took a while.." (Even though it's only been one minute.)
"Sure? I guess?"
They all went into the room and saw even more figures. But not humans, but cats and dogs!
"Cats and dogs?"
"Yeah. My wife and I used to love cats and dogs. Well, I liked cats and my wife liked dogs. Anyway, we got them all when we were alive, and we all died together."
"Speaking of your wife, where is she?"
"Actually, here she is!" A figure walked into the house.
"Patrick, there are humans in our fortress. Should we kill them or scare them out?"
"Hey! I heard that!" Amy said.
"Oh, Michelle, these are my new friends! Amy and Dave."
"Michelle, huh? Is that your name?"
"Yeah.. How can you hear us?"
"Magic..." Dave signed
"I don't really know.." Amy says with a laugh. "We can see you too."
"Oh... Hmm.. PATRICK! Lets probe them!"
"Michelle! Just stop!"
"I'm sorry! I've never done this before!"
"Oh, I know.. But, Michelle, come on.."
"Okay.. Now what?" Dave asked.
"What did he say?"
"He asked what now."
"Oh, okay. Come with me."
They started a tour of the fortress in the cats and dogs room.
