Baekhyun's POV
"Why are you being so stubborn?" Baekhyun grumbles.
"Me?" Chanyeol asks incredulously. "You're the one being stubborn. Just call her yourself."
Baekhyun sighs and leans back into the couch. "Will you please just tell me how she is?"
Baekhyun wasn't above pleading. He knew Chanyeol was tired of him asking how you were doing all the time, but he couldn't help himself. He missed you, and he just wanted to make sure you were happy. Chanyeol and Yixing had been trying to get him to contact you for about a week now, but he wasn't sure if you were ready for that yet.
Plus, it wasn't like it was only Baekhyun asking. Sehun was right next to him on the couch, waiting to see what he could get out of the two men also.
"She's doing good." He starts, and Baekhyun and Sehun lean forward attentively, causing Yixing to laugh. "She quit her job."
"She did?" Sehun asks in surprise, but Chanyeol continues on like he doesn't hear him.
"She started taking night classes... and she's been reconnecting with Miyoung..."
A smile grows on Baekhyun's face. It sounds like you are doing really good, and he couldn't be happier for you. It was great to hear that you finally quit that job. He could tell you didn't really like it from hearing your previous stories about working there. He was also excited to hear you had started taking night classes! He wonders what you've decided to go back to school for...
"Do you think it's too soon to reach out to her?" Baekhyun quietly asks.
"Considering we've been trying to get you to reach out to her for like a week, no." When Baekhyun continues to look down at his hands with an unsure expression on his face, Chanyeol leans forward. "Baekhyun, it's been over a month. Text her, call her, do something."
Baekhyun looks over at Yixing for his thoughts, and the older man nods. Nerves flow through him, and a knot in his stomach quickly forms at the thought of reaching out to you. Are they sure it's not too soon? He doesn't want to seem pushy and doesn't want to rush you into talking to him if you're not ready...
"For crying out loud." Chanyeol leans toward him and puts out his hand. "Give me your phone."
Baekhyun grips his phone even tighter and shakes his head. "I'll do it."
He looks down at his phone and pulls up your contact name. He hits the message button and takes a deep breath. Now what? Was he supposed to just say hi? Was he supposed to ask if you could talk? How was he supposed to start a conversation with you after a month of no contact?
He thinks about it for a moment before it hits him. He's not entirely sure why this is the route he should take, but it feels right.
B: I know this is forward, but would you like to go on a date with me?"
He hits send before he can talk himself out of it and lets out the breath he didn't know he was holding. There. It was done. There was no going back.
"What did you say?" Chanyeol eagerly asks.
Baekhyun side-eyes Chanyeol, feeling somewhat embarrassed about his message now. "I asked her if she wanted to go on a date."
"That's it?" Sehun asks in surprise.
Panic immediately fills Baekhyun as he starts questioning the text he sent. "Should I have said something else?"
"Calm down. It's fine." Yixing says once he notices him getting worked up. "Have you thought about what you want to do for the date if she says yes?"
