The stories usually start out with the kingdom under the ocean. Seven brothers, one of them king.
The king was a just ruler, a surprise, as he was young in the time that he had risen to power. He wasn't the perfect king, but he tried his best to keep his kingdom together, with the help of his brothers. The kingdom had its flaws, but for the most part, it lived in an era of peace.
Of course, such things were inevitably temporary.
Nautical storms brought change. Everyone in the underwater kingdom knew this, but no one ever expected the change to come in the form of six humans: Three born to royalty and three personal guards, one assigned to each prince.
With two races who spent centuries apart due to a clash from a long lost eon of kings, no one expected such a meeting. No one today knows how exactly the humans got there, how they survived. Did their ship capsize? Were they thrown overboard for a crime they plotted? Why would they sail right into a storm? Did they even expect it? All the answers have been lost to time, and could never have clear answers.
However, there have been some consistency between every telling of the story. Mentions of mermaids, sirens, magic. The princes and their guards from both kingdoms falling for each other. Stories of fantastical adventure and drama. A blend that withstood time, though it's unsure whether or not the stories are true.
But for what it's worth, this bit of history so claims a happy ending.
