Chapter 5: After Christmas

It's the end of the Christmas holidays and Lily is not looking forward to school but also excited for seeing her friends and James. Over the holidays, lily has been thinking about James ever since the night that Severus called her a mud-blood. She's been thinking about James differently like more than a friend, she even wrote letters to her friends and one to James. Remus offered to take her to the train station which she accepted after he came to her house and wouldn't stop talking about it. It was the morning of the train journey to school and lily was having breakfast early. "Morning lily" said Mr Evans, Lily's dad. "Morning dad" lily said startled cleaning the cereal off her chin, "Morning dad, Lily" said Petunia coming down the stairs, "hello petunia" said lily. "Good morning my darlings" said Mrs Evans strolling into kitchen happily. "You look happy mother" said Lily, "why wouldn't I be, i have an amazing life, amazing family and I slept very well" replied her mother. It was 10:00 when there was a knock at the door, Remus had come to pick lily up, "Morning sunshine" said Remus when lily answered the door, "Good morning Remus" lily said sarcastically for the day was a dull one "come on in", "Thank you lils" he said walking in. "Hello, Remus sweetheart" said Mrs Evans, "Morning mrs Evans, how did you sleep?" said Remus smiling. "Very well thank you". "Morning son" said Mr Evans, "Hi sir" said Remus, "Where's your trunk" he said to lily, "Oh it's upstairs" said Lily walking into the kitchen. "Great I'll go grab it" said Remus, "I'll help you" said Lily. They both walked upstairs, got the trunk and Remus took it to the car.

Lily said goodbye to her parents and Petunia then got into the car. "You ready to go" said Remus starting the car, "yeah" lily said. "Good cos we have to pick up Prongs and Padfoot" replied Remus. "What, who?" Lily said jumping up surprised. "James and Sirius, that is okay isn't it?" Remus replied, "oh yeah fine ,completely fine" said lily. "Good because I meantioned picking you up and James just jumped to the chance" He said teasing her as he drove to pick them up. "Mhm" said lily not focused. "You like him don't you" he said, "who?" said lily looking at him, "James, you like him" He said smirking, "what no of course not" she said quickly, "yes you do" he said happy, "well...I don't know, he's just a friend" she said with her head in her hands. "So you do like him" he said, "I didn't say that" lily said "but you were thinking it" Remus said teasing her again. There was silence and Remus smiled.

Remus had got to the Potter residence and Lily was in awe with the beautiful mansion like house. "Woah, what is this place" lily said breaking the silence, "that would be James' and now Sirius' house, the potter house" said Remus. "There is no way that's a house, when did Sirius live there?" said lily, "Oh he ran away from home a few days ago, besides he wasn't that happy there" replied Remus. "Oh" said lily then falling silent, Remus honked the horn twice and out came Sirius and James with two trunks and stuff through a door they came over to the car to load their trunks into the boot. James saw lily and gave her a wave, then opened her door to chat with her. "Hey hottie" James said to lily smiling, "Hey Potter" said lily smiling and shaking her head, "nice place you have there", "why thank you, is it making you reconsider?" He said, "reconsider what?" She said "going out with you, a little but still no" she said. "come on Prongs stop flirting and get your trunk in the car" said Sirius "hey lily", "hi Sirius" she replied. James loaded his trunk in the car then went to say goodbye to his parents.

"Have you got all your stuff packed" said Mrs potter, "yes mum" said James fed up, "Has Sirius got all his stuff packed" said Mr potter, "Yes dad" said James. "Who's the girl" Mrs potter said looking at lily, "Oh that's Lily Evans, she's a muggleborn friend of mine" replied James, "Are you two, you know" asked Mrs potter, "What, dear you can't ask our son that" said Mr potter to his wife. "Oh no we're not together, well not yet, I'll go get her" said James walking to the car. He opened Lily's door and pulled her out, "James what are you doing, we gotta go" lily was telling him whilst he was guiding her to his parents. "Mum, Dad this is Lily, my future girlfriend and possible wife" he said teasing her whilst smirking, "I wouldn't go that low, Hi nice to meet you" she said uncomfortably, "I'll wear you down, trust me" he said in her ear, "Not that much" she replied. "So nice to finally meet you dear, we've heard so much from James" said Mrs potter, "Oh well what can I say" lily said with a nervous laugh. "James remember to study I want you to get a high mark on your end of year exams" said Mrs potter, "Muuum, that's not for months yet" said James complaining, "It's not my fault I want you to get over ninety this time, do you even study" replied his mother, "I study" said James defensive, "no you don't" said lily confused, "I do too" said James, "James don't lie" said Mr potter, "I do" said James, "Oh yeah" said Lily, "where's the library". "You know, it's um forget it" said James. Lily smiled at him and shook her head.

Remus honked the car horn. "Come on we gotta go" said Lily, "It was nice meeting you" She started walking to the car and got in, "bye, love you" shouted James back to his parents as running to the car, "Bye!" Shouted Sirius out the car window and the drove off to the platform.

They got on the train and All shared a compartment, lily, James, Remus, Mary, Sirius, Marlene and Peter. James sat by the window and lily sat next to him, everyone sat down in a random spot except for Remus who sat next the door. James was staring out the window for two hours, when lily said "you okay, you look like your deep in thought", "yeah, just thinking about exams, I don't want to study", "do you want to make a deal with me" said lily, "Like what?" Said James curious, "well if you get ninety-two percent or higher, no less" lily went on, "then what" said James more curious, "then I will date you, starting seventh year" said lily regretting what she said. "Really" said James teasing lily, "you like what you see". "No it will make your mother happy if you get higher than ninety and it will stop you asking me out" said lily, "what did I get out of this deal" said James, "well if you get ninety two or higher then I will have no choice of saying yes to date you". Lily said "but if you don't want it then I'll just never say yes" she said teasing him, crossing her legs and moving back in her seat next to him. "Oh no I will take the deal trust me" he said putting his arm round lily shoulders. "Hey, what are you doing" she said, "well we're going to be dating soon aren't we" James said happily, "we'll see about that" said lily laughing.
