Poems for the lost

lost in my mind, thoughts like branches,
Memories like the wind.
Hanging upside down in that old oak tree in your front lawn,
I miss that.
But since you couldn't handle it anymore,
You forced the memories away.
You brainwashed me by leaving.
You left me in tears, and showed me the pain only the loneliest can see.
I understand now why you hated the world so much.
You told me it was hard when you felt alone in a crowded hallway.
I don't know how I didn't see it.
You showed every sign of departure,
But I was blind.
And stupid.
And I was at your house that night.
You gave me that perfume that I loved and envied.
I can't stand the smell of it now.
I can't help but cry when I see it sitting there mocking me on my dresser.
You left because you wanted happiness for all.
Yet I'm sitting in my bedroom with my thoughts , alone , sad , and hungover with the pain only the loneliest can see.
