"Your brother came by," your roommate Ivy told you as you shut the door to your dorm room behind you. Her nose was stuck in a book, and she laid upon the twin sized bed lazily.

She was muggle born, something that she had no control over but still casted a pall on her as a person. She was incredibly pessimistic and a nuisance, but still one you tried to remain civil with. To be honest, you didn't know if she had a single other friend at Hogwarts.

She was not the most pleasant to be around. Always in your business, offering unneeded comments or advice you didn't ask for. She just had the certain annoyance about her personality that would bother anyone after some time.

Miraculously, you were one of the few who even still had a roommate. You were incredibly jealous of all the other Hufflepuffs who lived by themselves this year. Quite unfortunately was the fact that Ivy was a homebody as well. She never left the dorm room and was quite anti-social, which made her practically inescapable.

"Sorry about that, I was in detention. I'll just tell him to come by another day," you said exhausted, setting your things down by the corner of your bed.

"Detention? With who?" Ivy questioned. She was incredibly nosy.

"Alecto Carrow. It was brutal, I'm so glad this year is almost over," you sighed sitting on the bed and taking off your shoes and socks.

You pulled your covers down and flopped onto the bed. Staring at the ceiling, your memories betrayed you and the sight of a helpless Malfoy lying on the ground kept invading your thoughts.

Stop it!

You rubbed your temples and tried to think about anything else but that.

"So, was it true what they say about her? She uses the Cruciatus Curse?" she obnoxiously pried.

"Yes," you replied solemnly. You had no interest in speaking any further about it.

You were just so angry that you had to be exposed to that type of violence, even angrier that it was normalized on a school campus. Knowing yourself, you knew your brain would only continue to bring it up and you could never repress the memory.

With your house uniform still on, hair unbrushed and a horrible feeling in your stomach, you curled into your bed and let sleep wash over you.

——————————

"Wake up... wake up," a whispered voice kept repeating. "Wake up!" he yelled throwing a pillow at your head.

You woke up startled and blinked a few times, seeing Jameson crouched over you. Rubbing your eyes, you looked around and realized daylight was peeking through the window.

"Come on, it's the weekend!" he exclaimed, patting your head and jumping up.

Ivy was long gone at this point, she truly seemed to hate your brother with a passion. She had such a pessimistic personality though, you honestly thought she hated everything. Granted you never knew her before Umbridge or the Death Eaters or Snape, you still had never seen her smile. Once.

Throwing the covers off, you looked down and realized you still had everything on from the day before.

Ugh.

"Wow, dressed already. Nice," Jameson laughed, seeing that you slept in your uniform. "Fuck off." you jibed, as you pushed his shoulder and got out of bed.

Figuring you might as well get things moving for the day, you grabbed some new clothes and your shower caddy.

"Look, I've got to grab a shower, can you just wait here and not touch anything?"
