I slowly opened my eyes to find my head resting on Luke’s and my arms wrapped around his chest, we’d obviously managed to get like that, considering the tight space on the arm chair, in the night but I quickly unravelled myself from him. I wanted to do my best to try and work it out with Jai and him finding us like this would not be the best way. I reached for my phone and checked the time... 13:19.

‘Shit’ I mumbled, but managed to wake Jai up.

‘What’s up?’ he asked sleepily.

‘We’ve over slept, it must be the time differences and stuff. I told mum we would be at hers for 2’

Jai rolled his eyes and stood up from the tiny space he had on the double bed as he watched me frantically gather my clothes for today.

‘Don’t look!’ I laughed as I started to get changed. There was no actual bathroom which gave us no privacy whatsoever. He smirked and put his hands in front of his face. I pulled on my tshirt and hoodie with some jeans and turned around to find him still covering his eyes.

‘Good boy’ I giggled before lightly removing his hands. I looked into his deep hazel eyes, his eyes that were once mine. They flickered down to my lips but as we went to lean in Luke suddenly woke up.

‘Weren’t we meant to be at yours for 2?’ he said uncomfortably, shuffling from one foot to another. I quickly pulled away from Jai and nodded to Luke. The 2 of them got ready apart from the fact that we didn’t have a shower but if everything went okay today we would be able to stay at home for the rest of the week... hopefully.

‘Are they not coming with us?’ Jai asked pointing to Beau and Becca who were happily curled up together in bed, fast asleep.

‘Naa, we’ll meet up with them later’ I replied before ushering them out the door, dragging our suitcases behind us.

‘Fucking hell Lily’ Luke gasped as we lingered outside my house.

‘You live... here?’ Jai asked wide eyed. I nodded sheepishly and stared at my own house, I didn’t really like to talk about what my family and home life was like to the boys, I didn’t want to sound too snobby and posh. I especially didn’t like telling them what my mum was like.

‘Well, are we not going in?’ Luke tugged on my arm, making me move forward. I could barely walk though, I was petrified. I shuffled to the door before ringing the bell. The muffled ring echoed the house as my mum opened the door.

‘Lillian!’ Mum opened her arms and grabbed me into a hug. Her necklace dug into my neck but I still hugged her back, I guess I had sort of, a tiny bit, missed her.

‘And you must be Jai and Luke? Lillian has told me a lot about you’ she smiled to them. I looked back and noticed them sniggering at my real name, I shot them a death glare before walking into my house. The 3 of us followed my mum into the front living room to find my Dad sitting on the couches.

‘Lily!’ My dad stood up and embraced me into a warm hug. I’d always been closer to my dad, he seemed to understand me more and would never call me by my stuck up name. Mum beckoned the boys to sit down, then brought in a tray with drinks and biscuits.

‘Relax’ I whispered to Luke and Jai as I slipped into the seat next to them. They nodded awkwardly before politely taking a drink and a biscuit.

‘So, how’s the exchange programme going? Is the woman you’re staying with okay?’ Mum asked, scrunching her nose at thought of some other woman looking after me.
