A/n: This is my first story so I have no idea if it's good or not.*Y/n POV *
I ran.
Tears cascade down my face like a waterfall that never ends. The branches whipping my face and arms while the twigs that are scattered on the forest floor flick up, leaving large scratches across my once smooth skin. Now coupled along with the fresh purple/blue bruises that cover me from head to toe.
With my vision impaired from the tears, the hits keep coming. My legs start to weaken but not enough for me to notice while the adrenaline still courses through my bloodstream. My shaking legs making it harder to lift them enough to not trip over the uneven ground.
There were two things that kept replaying in my mind. One was I need to get to a safe and secure location. The other was that I need to get into contact with Nick. I only needed to find one place that Nick would have some control over and get there quickly.
At this the forest started to thin out and I came to what seemed like the main road that was just void of any traffic. I took off running which slowly turned into a sprint down the road, to only see what seemed like a city. The bright lights seemingly calling me towards them.
The closer I got the clearer my vision became as the tears began to stop. The sound of traffic caught my attention as the sound of the wind whipping past my ears began to slow.
As I walk towards the centre of the city my strategic brain took over and the search for something S.H.E.I.L.D would be invested in was a go. I scanned the city and slowly took in the fact that there was now an Avengers Tower and it was all over the news. "The once Stark tower has been rebranded as the Avengers Tower for quite some time now...." the news reporter went on talking as my mind raced. I just knew that where ever the Stark name lay that S.H.E.I.L.D was somehow connected.
I began to ask the people around me where I could find it but most of them ignored me. Who wouldn't? I look a mess, like I had gone through hell and back, when I caught a glimpse of my reflection before passing the window.
Once a nice homeless man told me where to find the somewhat beautiful but ugly building I took off running in that direction.
I turned the corner and in the distance I could see the large luminous 'A' on the side of a building.
'Bingo' I thought to myself as I ran, more like sprinted, to the tower.
This was the only way to get Nick's attention and when it does he better come running.
As I got closer and closer, the adrenaline coursing through my body starts to wear off and I realise the extent of my injuries. I have a large looking stab wound to my side and what seems to be an extensive number of scratches and gashed, ranging from small to large and shallow to deep.
I slowly began to realise that I have slowly been loosing blood and I become very light headed. I start to stumble. I get to the door and burst through and fell to the floor.
I rush to stand up, to which I could of been laying one the floor for a while, before I was lifted into the air by strong unfamiliar arms and carried to the elevator. Once inside it starts to move and I can hear the muffled sounds of the man talking and something about a 'Banner' and a 'lab'.
When the elevator comes to a stop I am rushed out quickly but gently lay onto what seems like a hospital bed.
My hazed brain is still trying to remember what our code words for 'I'm alive but I need you here quickly' was.
*Flashback*
I had finished my mission so I went back home and waited for Nick to get back. I love him but sometimes I could rip his head of for not being home a lot. I know it's not by choice but it was very irritating.
I was in the kitchen washing the dishes when Nick got home from training to become the new director at S.H.E.I.L.D. We had decided that we should probably have a code for if we get taken and escaped or if we need help immediately.
That night we spent hours coming up with different codes for everything we could possibly need to tell each other without letting others know what we were talking about.
I slightly turn to the person who carried me here to 'tell whoever the Stark is, who owns the Tower, to call Nick Fury and tell him that 'me' Abigail Smith has been found and will be home in time for dinner' before letting myself fall into the darkness that had began to block parts of my vision from the beginning of being lay down on the bed.
The last thing I hear before slipping out of consciousness was the doors being slammed open and someone calling for Stark to get Fury on the phone.
