Falling In-Love With Him

I never intended to fall for such a small, stupid idiot. But, I guess everything needs a chance and I'm using that chance.

At first I didn't know why I suddenly started getting nervous around him, or how my stomach would do flips or how I would wish for him to talk to me. I could be sitting in my room on my laptop, then I started thinking of him. After that, I checked my phone thousands of times in one minute, wishing to see his name pop up. Occasionally, "Clyde Donovan" would pop up and I would smile and answer it immediately. We could talk for hours until my dad or mom would walk in my room and complain about how loud I'm talking.

Clyde could make me happy in an instant. His small dimpled smile with his chipped lateral incisor and his honey brown eyes could make me smile so widely my face hurt. His hand gestured out to hold mine to walk to school; he always insisted to hold my hand to walk to school because he doesn't want to be separated. Or his sneaky attempts to read comic books during class, it was easy to make me smile with him.

"Token, can we go shopping tonight?" Clyde asked, snapping me from my daze. I must've been staring too long. Clyde's face was a bright red and a soft smile on his face but an excited look in his honey eyes. Seeing that gaze on me made me flush and smile widely. Clyde tapped his fingers on the lunch table and cocked his head, awaiting an answer.

I sighed. "Sure. What time do you want me to pick you up?"

"Yay!" he squealed, smiling widely. My heart skipped a beat while staring at him. Face warming, I chuckled. "Seven. We're going late. No one is ever there past six!"

"Clyde, no one is there past six because the store closes at six," I assured, laughing lightly. I rested my chin on the palm of my hand, grinning with amusement. Clyde giggled quietly and rubbed the back of his neck. I watched his red face get darker, and I couldn't help but notice the sight of his lips. They looked so soft and easy to touch, but I would never be able to kiss them any less touch them.

"Then we'll break in! I need those animal crackers, Token! And don't tell me no, you're going!" Clyde exclaimed, pouting his lips. He cocked an eyebrow when I didn't reply or look away from him. I offered a short, love struck gaze before it transformed into a weirded out look.

"I'm not breaking into a grocery store for animal crackers."

"Yes, you are. I am and you know you won't let me go alone, isn't that right, Oken?"

"I said to stop calling me 'Oken'."

"Don't ignore my sentence. I want you to go. We can have so much fun!" he offered, crossing his arms with a less hopeful smile. I sighed, rolling my eyes, and crinkling my nose.

"I'll go..." I grumbled, crossing my arms on the table in front of me, looking at Clyde for a response. Even if Clyde wanted me to go grocery shopping when the stores closed, I could always pay for overtime in the store. He wouldn't have to know and we wouldn't be breaking laws. Its a win/win.

"Yay! I'll see you after school! Bye bye, Oken!" Clyde stood from the table, collecting his back pack, and began walking towards the exit. Lunch only just began but Clyde got lunch detention, which bothered me a lot because this was our time to talk. Just us. But I can wait until after school...right?

I watched after him as he left the lunchroom with a small wave and headed in the direction to the detention room. At least he had Craig, he always had detention during lunch. It wouldn't matter for Clyde to join him one afternoon.

After picking with my food all of lunch, the bell rang and I threw my food away. I headed back to class.

Soon the day was over and I was heading back to my car. The silvery tan car sat in it's usual spot, thankfully no one took it. I forgot to lock it this morning.
