Eve's p.o.v.

When we finally made it to Zevil Island we were instructed to leave the boat in order according to the shortest time it took to escape trick tower to the longest. We were give two minute intervals between each person to go our own ways. We had to survive a week on the island and collect our six points to pass the exam. After Khara had finished explaining Hisoka left the boat and headed into the island. I noticed him look back at me and smirk before he was out of sight and I shook my head. I waited the two minutes before heading out on the island myself not bothering to hide my badge like everyone else had. As I entered Zevil Island, I looked around admiring the area and made my way further in looking for a place to set up camp.

I eventually came across a river that was in front of an open area with trees surrounding it. It was a calming and peaceful little area so I decided to set up camp there for the night. I knew the other applicants would be searching the island for their targets so I decided I wouldn't stay in one place for more than one night. Stretching, I looked around and began collecting wood to make a small fire and heard rustling in the trees. I stopped and listened closely before turning and spotting Gon in one of the trees.

"Oh it's you Gon. Forgive me but if my badge is your target then you're better off finding three others. I really don't want to hurt you." I said and he hopped down from the tree landing in front of me.

"Oh don't worry, you're not my target!"

"If you don't mind me asking, who is your target?"

"Hisoka." He answered and I stopped. I felt sorry for the poor boy. Unless he was clever he wouldn't pass this phase.

"Well I hope everything goes well for you. All I ask is that you be careful and stay alive for Killua." I said and he nodded.

"You really care about Killua don't you Eve?" Gon asked and I nodded smiling.

"Yeah. He's like a little brother to me and one of the few people I trust and call my friend."

"I'd like to be your friend if that's okay!" Gon exclaimed and I thought about it for a moment before nodding as I smiled at him.

"Sure Gon. I could use some friends." I accepted and ruffled his spiky hair as he laughed and swatted my hand away.

"So what are you doing over here if you need to find Hisoka?" I asked as I began walking to my campsite with the wood I had and Gon followed me.

"Well I came here to train with moving targets."

"Moving targets?" I asked confused and he nodded.

"Yeah! I know Hisoka isn't going to stay still so I can just take his badge so I've gotta train to hit a moving target!" He explained and I thought about it for a moment. It made sense but also brought up another question.

"Have you never hunted before?" I asked and he simply shook his head.

"So let me get this straight. You're taking the hunter's exam to be a hunter yet you've never hunted before?" I questioned and he grinned.

"Yep! I want to know why my dad left me behind to be a hunter so I decided to be a hunter just like him!"

"You're an interesting child Gon. I hope you keep moving towards your goals and accomplish them one day." I said starting the fire.

"So why do you want to be a hunter Eve?" He asked and I shrugged.

"To be honest I don't I just thought the exam would be fun." I answered honestly as I made my way to the river and looked into it seeing fish swimming around.

"Oh so you're like Killua. He only came here cause he thought it'd be fun too!"Gon exclaimed and I hummed as I pulled out my trick ribbon. With a flick of the wrist I sent it shooting towards the water and struck a large fish with the sharpened side killing it. I must've amazed Gon because when I turned around with the fish wrapped in my ribbon his eyes were wide in wonder.

"Woah that's so cool! Is that your weapon?!" He asked excited as he got a closer look and I smiled amused.

"Yes it is. It's a trick ribbon with edges sharp enough to cut through almost anything if enough force is put behind it. It acts as both attack and defense since I can easily capture my opponent in it." I explained and he lightly ran his finger over the edge of it gaining a small cut.

"Wow that is sharp! Do you think I could try it?" He asked and I shook my head.

"I'd rather you not. If you don't know what you're doing you could easily get injured." I declined and he looked sad until he suddenly got an idea.

"Hey I know! Why don't you help me train!" He exclaimed and I smiled as I placed the fish over the fire I had created.

"And how would I do that?" I asked placing my hands on my hips as a wide smile grew across his face.

"All you have to do is dodge my attacks! I need practice with a moving target so this should be perfect! Please Eve." He begged and I sighed as I shook my head smiling.

"Very well. But I'm only doing this because you're adorable and going to need all the help you can get." I said and he jumped with joy before quickly backing away.

Keeping an eye on the fire, I began dodging Gon's attacks with ease and occasionally struck out at him with my ribbon to keep him alert.

"If you plan on going after Hisoka you mustn't assume that he won't fight back. Even if you somehow manage to get his badge without fighting him you must be ready for anything. Always stay on alert and keep your presence hidden from your target. If they know you're there then you're as good as dead." I instructed as I dodged his attack.

"I understand. If I leave myself open for an attack then he will take that chance to strike."

"Exactly. And don't think he will go easy on you because you're a child either. If anything , use your size as an advantage. You'll be able to get into smaller spaces that a larger opponent wouldn't. Use anything you can to your advantage and you might just survive. Even if it means putting others at risk." I said and he stopped.

"But I don't want to risk other's lives if it means getting what I need." He said and I frowned.

"Gon I don't think you understand that this is a game of kill or be killed. You can't expect being friendly to always work." I said and he nodded. After that we continued to train in silence until it grew dark. Calling it quits, I sat down at the fire with Gon and we ate together.

"So who is your target Eve?" Gon asked as he took a bite of the fish and I shrugged.

"I don't know. I got a look at him before he hid his badge but I don't know his name." I answered as I picked at the fish I had.

"Are you worried at all?"

"No not really. If someone wants, they can try to take my badge but they won't get very far." I said and he nodded.

After that we ate in silence until Gon was ready to fall asleep. I watched as he lied down beside the fire and soon fell asleep. Looking around I sighed and stood up as I hopped into a nearby tree and relaxed on a branch. I wasn't tired but I wasn't going to leave Gon alone as he slept. The poor boy has been through a lot and now he had to target Hisoka in order to pass this phase. As I sat there I heard rustling nearby and focused my sight on the trees surrounding us. I knew someone was watching us and I didn't like it. If I had to I'd protect Gon for tonight but once morning arrives he would be on his own as I changed locations.

Once I was satisfied the person wouldn't make a move I relaxed and sat there staring at the night sky for a few hours. This was going to be a long week and I knew it was only a matter of time before Hisoka found me. No matter where I was that damn magician seemed to find me somehow and it only served to annoy me further seeing as I couldn't seem to get away.

Sighing I closed my eyes and soon fell asleep. I'd worry about finding my target tomorrow and go from there when I could.
