"Oh, sweet Jesus," Tubbo breathed, eyes wide and hands clutched tight to his chest at Techno's back.
As they drew closer, drifting further through the fog that glided over the ocean and its waters, like dragonflies zipping along near the grass during a muggy day's sunset, the group was greeted by the sight of a large mountain settled in the midst of a savannah and its unique trees that staggered about its base, a few littered near the top that appeared to plateau somewhat.
"Dramatic much?" Techno grumbled underneath his breath from his seat in the boat, paddles drawing small waves as he rowed Tubbo and himself towards land. "Kid, quit leanin' forward like that, would ya'? We'll be out of the boat soon enough, and then you can look."
Phil, to their right and trailing just behind, simply stared, eyes moving up the landform and lips settling in a tight line.
"I told you and Phil I could've driven by myself," the former President said huffily, though he did move back to sit properly in his seat. "Then you wouldn't have had to worry about it, would you?"
Phil's lips twisted, and he tore his gaze from the mountain to glare at Tubbo in reprimand. "No chance, mate. You've aggravated your wounds enough; you'll already be holding a sword today if all goes to plan, so we don't need to irritate your fingers further beforehand."
"What fingers?" Tubbo muttered petulantly, though he made no attempt to keep it quiet.
Tubbo's got jokes?
Haha!
HAHAHA! What the fuck?!
lol
Omg, that was savage
The sass!
Immaculate!
Sassy Tubbo!
Sassbo!
Get rekt, old bird man!
Phil's squawk next to Chat's cackling was enough to have Techno's lips curling up at the corners, but he interrupted anyway. "Enough bickerin'. Remember to pick the boats up. If Dream isn't here right now, I'll take Karl's word and say he will be; if that's the case, we don't need him seein' our boats when he comes in."
Both murmured their agreements, and Techno finally slid the front of the boat onto the shore, the sound of sand brushing on the underside loud in the quiet of the empty day. For as swift in taking to his feet as Techno was, all grace and fluidity of a warrior that danced amongst the battlefield, Tubbo was out before even him, nearly launching himself over Techno's shoulder as he splashed into the shallow water and scrambled away.
Techno bit back a remark, and Phil's boat rowed up to settle next to his, the man groaning despairingly. "Tubbo!"
"Stuff your 'take it easy' shit, old man." The boy waited for the two men to make their way to him, voice wavering between a wary whisper and volatile shout. "No yelling, remember? If Dream's here, I'd rather he not know we were, too."
Phil sighed but nodded, sighing when the brunet turned and trudged up the hilly terrain. Techno hummed but tilted his head towards his father, silently imploring. "I know you worry, but Tubbo doesn't want it, and he's just gonna keep pushin' back the more you try. Kid doesn't care, anyway; we're all gonna die soon, and to him that negates his current physical condition. It's not like he was Tommy's best friend for nothin', what with 'em both bein' reckless idiots and all."
"I can't just stop worrying, Tech," Phil argued as they both moved to follow Tubbo, watching closely as the boy studied his communicator as he tracked the coordinates and simultaneously observing their surroundings for any threats.
