A few years later

---

He hadn't been back in such a long time, but it was all the same.

The fire, menacing, its flames hungry for blood, the lava running down the rugged, hewn rock faces like molten gold.

The landscape stretched for miles, with cliff faces and the Lava Sea as far as the eye could see.

"Ranboo" Tubbo said, "Are you still with me?" he grabbed his hand and led him across the winding path, over hills and rock flecked with gold.

That's when he saw him.

Standing all alone.

Suddenly the memories all came flooding back clear as light. When he had been a small boy living with his clan, touring the three dimensions, when he had stayed in the eerie light of the Warped Forest.

That's when he saw him.

A tall Piglin dressed in a ragged cloak and crown, dirt worn into his features like a traveller from the desert. He'd begged him a trip, in exchange for a gift. But Ranboo hadn't known why Endermen didn't take Piglins into the Overworld, he'd just accepted the crown and took the risk, physically altering him into the way he looked today.

But the Piglin, Technoblade, had been kind, helpful. Vulnerable.

And that is what Ranboo saw standing right infront of him in that very moment in time.

A poor, helpess Zombie-Piglin boy.

But what he also saw in that boy was what he saw in Techno, a kind heart but a creature that was nurtured in a hostile environment, one that made everyone only trust themselves and no one else.

Ranboo had to save him. He couldn't let him come to any harm

"Wait". He tugged on Tubbo's arm and pointed

"Look"

And that is when Tubbo saw it too, a small child in need of a caring family, and both Ranboo and Tubbo knew that they had to save him.

They stepped of the path and walked towards him.

"Are you lost?" they whispered to him

The Zombie-Piglin boy turned towards them and looked into their kind faces, knowing that they would care and protect him.

"Yes. My name's Michael"
