The Starlight Princess

Chapter 2

Queen Daphne sat at a corner in the stronghold holding her baby in her arms. Her heart beat got faster by every passing moment. The flow of sweat from her skin was endless as she tried as much as she could to be conscious of every single sound she heard. Ava lifted her hand to touch her mother's nose. The smile on Avas, facade Daphne forget about her worries and the fear I losing her baby faded. "My little starlight, I wish I could express the same joy you feel, but after all this terror, we will be a happy family again" she said with joy. All of a sudden, she heard something like an explosion from outside. The booming sounds kept repeating. She knew that Baradon had found them and she had to act fast. She began to search for a secret passage way on the wall that would lead back to the chambers above the ground. Baradon kept striking the star crystal wall till it broke into bits while Daphne kept searching for the exit. "what I'm I going to do? There's no way out" she mumbled in fear, scratching her head and fell on her knees with Ava in her arms. She held a lampstand for support and it turned downwards, causing the wall to open. She didn't think of hesitating and left immediately with Ava. "Oh Daphny. You refused me and went for my idiot brother, all in the name of so called "true love". You would have been my darling star flower but now, I'm sorry because even if I may still be entranced by your beauty, I'll have to get you out of the way to get what I need. Which means I'll have to kill you," said Baradon. He conjures fire from his hands and aimed at the iron door if the stronghold and it blew up. Surprisingly, when the smoke had faded he saw no one but Daphne s mistake was leaving the secret passageway open and that gave Baradon a clue of where she was heading to.

Daphny ran as fast as she could, taking a secret route that led to the palace. She finally arrived at the main chambers but behind her was the winged creature but she kept running. Baradon kept shooting dark spells at her. She was clever enough to dodge all his means of attack. As he was about to release his worst Dylone came into the scene and took Baradon down from behind. The both of them stumbled and crashed onto the ground, trying to get a hold of each other. This gave Daphny enough time to escape but Dylone called and she turned to see his bleeding face. "We can't risk her life anymore with this beast around. I know its hard but we need to let her go. Do what you need to do. Go, now!" Dylone yelled as he held down Baradon.

Daphny ran with Ava on her arms with tears rolling down from her eyes. She ran out through an exit located at one of the palace towers which led to some stairs out of the palace. She stopped after taking a few steps down and stared at the horizon.

" I can't do this. I can't let you go my darling. But if I don't, I'll lose you," she said in a state of melancholy. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, "oh heaven, here my call," she whispered. Suddenly, wind began to blow strongly and she heard a voice from above she gasped in amazement and tried paying attention to hear it clearly. It was a song with no lyrics, "but all through my years charting the stars, I've never heard them sing," she said.

A must of dust and colours appeared in the dark sky and out of it was bright light that lit up the sky.
" Thank goodness. I'm not alone," she said and ran down the stairs. She ran as far as she could from the palace. She stopped and fell to her knees and started calling the stars and forces of the heavens to help. A strange feeling came over her like a connection. Her emotions sprung up with the song of the stars and lyrics began to flow from her lips.

"Stars of the heaven
Forces of light
I bring which was chosen of the stars to your hands
That you may by your powers conceal with your might
And darkness need her no harm
Stars of heaven
Hear my call
I command you come to my plea
Crystals of sky
Heaven's bright power
Come to my aid
Save which you blessed me with
Starlight I call
Conceal your heir
