"Ne Aoi-chan... I won't be coming today to work." "Hmm? Why? Are you feeling sick?" I let out a sigh. "No Aoi-chan. I quit." Her eyes widened. "Wha- Why?!" "You see, I got a new work and a new place to live." That was something both of us expected. I had to move eventually somewhere on my own. But not in that way...
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" She said with sad eyes. "Don't get me wrong. I just found out myself about that in the morning." I said looking down in shame. "So you are finally leaving?" She said ready to cry. "I believe so..." She jumped and hugged me very tight with tears falling down from her eyes.
"Ito-chan!!! Please keep hanging out with me!! Come and visit me often!!" She is such a child. I smiled at her and hugged her back. "Of course I will. What kind of friend I would be if I don't hang out with you."
And so like that, Aoi was off to work and I stayed behind outside of the house to wait for the headless rider to arrive and it wasn't long until she finally did.
"Hey Celty." I didn't wait long for her reply. "Hey. Glad to see you're safe." "I don't know if that will stay the same tho. But let's just keep on hoping." I said chuckling in my own unluckiness.
"That's right. You need to be careful there. I already told you but Izaya is a very dangerous person." I nodded my head. "I know." I said getting on the motorcycle and let Celty give me a drive to the devil's house.
When I arrived I was ready to enter his apartment but Celty stopped me before doing so. "Hey Ito. If you ever need anything just call me. Don't hesitate to do that okay? Be safe." "Thank you Celty." I smiled and waved at her as she was leaving.
Just then, before entering the apartment, I realized that I haven't called the agency yet. I quickly opened my cellphone and tapped a certain number. I heard the familiar ringing sound of my phone before the person in the other line had answered my call.
"Itoo-chaannn~~ You did toooo loonngg to call meee~!" I unconsciously smiled, happy to finally hear his voice. "Hey Osamu. I am also very happy to hear you." "Ito-chan~ When are you coming back?!! I miss you!!" He whined through the phone and I let out a small chuckle.
"I am sorry Osamu, but I am not planning on coming so soon back. Not now that I have a problem with a specific person here..." Immediately his voice changed to a more serious one. "What the problem." I let out a heavy sigh. "It's about my ability... Seems that now one of the most fearsome and dangerous people here knows about my ability. If I don't work for him he will immediately spread informations about me everywhere."
"Ito. Just do what he says for the moment. You are coming back to the agency. I will come and pick you up later." "But Osamu-" "I am not taking no as an answer. See you soon Ito-chan, be safe until then." He didn't even let me finish or even reply to his decision and he hung up on me. I stood there motionless and quite shocked. Dazai is being way to serious about this. It's not like people don't know about ability users. Life was never easy anyways...
I took a breath and entered Izaya's apartment. "Why good morning Ito-chan~" Tch... "It's everything else than a good day..." "But why? I find this morning very pleasing actually." I didn't reply and just started to walk towards the room he once had gave me.
"Was perhaps the little call you did outside ruined your day?" Of course he would know... "Not quite right. But actually it was a certain info broker who literally FORCED me to work for him, ABANDON my friend, and LIVE in the same roof as he does. But everything besides that, is completely fine." I said quite loudly at some point but toned it down at the end shrugging.
"Come on, it's not that bad working for me. You should be actually honored." He said sitting on the left couch. "Oh really? So you admit that you in fact DID all of those things I referred!!" "Of course I do. That's the truth. I did forced you to work for me in exchange for information. I need to know what that ability of yours is capable of. I want also, as you already know, to learn about your past in Yokohama."
