It Must Be Fate #1

Madelyn's POV

"Mommy! Look! There's Justin!" My little sister Alexis yelled as we walked into Madison Square Garden. She pointed to the screen with Justin Bieber's face on it. Even though she was six, and I was sixteen, I was almost as excited as she was. I was just doing a better job of controlling myself.

"Come on, Lex! We have to find our seats." My mom grabbed her hand and led her down the stairs. We had a decent view of the stage, about half way down. It was Paige and Alexis' first concert, and of course it was Justin Bieber. Since he had become popular a few months ago, he was the only thing that either of them talked about. I felt a little silly that I actually liked the same person my younger sisters did, but I had to admit, he was cute and he had good music.

"I'm going to go to the bathroom, Maddie." My mom said. She was eight months pregnant with twins, so I knew this was just the beginning of her trips to the bathroom. I sat down in my seat and watched Paige and Alexis take in the venue. Alexis couldn't stop talking about it, while Paige just stood mesmerized.

"I cannot believe we are going to see Justin Bieber!" Alexis shouted in my face. Normally, I would've yelled at her, but she was just excited. I didn't expect any less of a reaction. I was also screaming, on the inside. I couldn't believe we were actually getting to see Justin Bieber.

Just as the opening act came on, my mom returned. She looked uncomfortable, but that wasn't anything new. She sat down and looked so pleased with herself. She had gotten these concert tickets less than a week ago, when it was already sold out. She begged and pleaded, and that's how we got here. Madison Square Garden was the place to be tonight.

It wasn't until halfway through the second opening act that my mom started wincing with pain.

"Are you okay, Mom?" I asked, concerned.

"Yeah, I'm sure," she paused, "No, I think I'm in labor."

My mind went in a flurry of activity. What should I do? Who could I call? We didn't have any family in New York. My dad was out of the country. The babies weren't supposed to be here for another three weeks.

"What should I do?" I asked, panicked.

"I need to get to the hospital. I've been having contractions all day, but now they are real." She was wincing even more.

"Okay, let's go!" I hopped out onto the aisle to start up the stairs.

"Maddie, I am not going to be able to make it up all of those stairs. Let's go down. We will find someone to let us out down there." She was such a logical thinker.

I grabbed Paige and Alexis' hands and started down the stairs. After twenty stairs we reached the bottom of the arena where a security guard stood blocking the entrance to the floor.

"I'm in labor. I need to get out and I can't walk up all of those stairs." My mom explained the rare situation to the guard who didn't look sympathetic at all. But as luck would have it, a familiar face was walking by. I recognized Scooter Braun, Justin Bieber's manager, as he was walking up to see what the problem was. As soon as he heard the story he rushed my mom backstage to see the doctor who just happened to be with them tonight.

My mom told him she didn't want us to miss the concert, so Scooter sat us in the section in front of the floor seats with none other than Pattie Mallette, Justin's mom. The whole time Pattie kept running backstage to check on the progress. They decided they didn't have time to get her to the hospital, so they would deliver the babies backstage.
