A/N: Go ahead and imagine this is all in Trigedasleng please and thank you.

Potential is a strange thing. To claim something has potential is even stranger, especially when that something is a two-year-old natblida that has just been delivered to the throne of the Commander in the arms of a Trikru warrior.

Alexandra found herself on the 20th level of the Polis tower. This level consisted mostly of the grand throne room and a few meeting rooms. The throne room was made entirely of stone and decorated with art pieces detailing past and present Commanders. One frame stood out from the others. This one had a completely dark frame, but no picture. The rough edges of the inside of the frame made it clear that the painting had been removed. Ripped actually. The door was located in the centre of the room and a dark crimson carpet led from the doorway to a raised platform. The carpet travelled up the steps on the raised platform and stopped at the base of the throne. The throne had its back to the balcony doors and was centred at the back of the room. A large fireplace was located to the left of the throne. The room itself was incredible and extravagant but that wasn't what drew the attention of everyone in the room. The eyes of several men and women and three children were focused directly on the person perched on the throne. The men and women wore plenty of armour and had unique tattoos detailing which clan they came from. They all came from Trikru, the clan of the Commander. The three children were dressed in light amour and carried wooden weapons. The woman was young, she couldn't be more than 25. She had short black hair that fell to the top of her broad shoulders. A few strands were braided around her head to prevent hair falling in her face. She had three lines of kohl dragged across each eye diagonally. The pattern made it look like someone had clawed both her eyes. She was dressed in heavy armour and wore a metal chest plate that was attached with leather straps over a black thigh length tunic. Her pants were a thin and loose material, tight only where sheaths for her many daggers were attached. She carried a large broadsword, no doubt explaining her large shoulders. She sat straight backed and look down upon her subjects, her cold and steady eyes interrogating everything and everyone.

"Stand warrior" instructed the young woman. She sat upon a throne made of wood. Branches in fact, all woven together to create a most formidable throne. Perfect for the Commander of the clans, "put the child down."

Anya did as she was told. Placing the small form of Alexandra on her own two feet, directly in front of the Commander.

"What is your name little one?" The commander asked carefully, leaning forward on her throne in order to get closer to Alexandra.

"Alexandra," murmured the small girl.

The Commander sat back in her throne, stretching her hands to the ends of the arm rests. "I see. I think you need a new name; you are a new person now aren't you."

Alexandra merely nodded in response.

"How about Lexa? Fine name for a warrior I do believe. What would you say men?" The commander asked her closest soldiers.

The men all gave the response, a simple nod of the head here and there.

"Then it is settled. Lexa. Lexa kom Trikru. Now I do believe you to be a little young" The Commander said looking Lexa up and down. She turned her gaze to Anya, "But you do have potential. Anya kom Trikru, Lexa will be your second, when she is not in novitiate classes you will train her and teach her. Is that understood?"

"Sha Heda," Answered Anya.

"Luna, Gideon and Miles, come" The Commander gestured to the three children, who in unison immediately straightened their backs and moved to stand at the base of the Commanders throne. The children knelt and bowed their head to the Commander. "Stand. Luna Kom Floukru, Gideon Kom Floukru and Miles Kom Louwoda Kliron take Lexa to the novitiate chambers"

When Lexa joined the novitiates there were only three of them. Luna was the oldest of the children at 8 years and by far the strongest. Gideon is 7 and has a very rare story. He has a sister who is also a nightblood. His sister is Luna. It isn't unheard of, but it is still very rare for a family to give birth to more than one natblida. Miles was the youngest of the three at 5 years, but he was very kind.

It wasn't for another three years until more natblidas were found. Harlow Kom Boudalan who was four and Louisa Kom Trishanakru who was 3. Harlow was discovered by Flamekeepers disguised in a rock line and Louisa was delivered to Polis by elders of her village after her uncle and only guardian had died in a flood.

Two years after Harlow and Louisa arrived, three more natblidas were found; Martina Kom Trikru, Koa Kom Podakru and Arlo Kom Sangedakru. Martina was 3 and her parents handed her to the flamekeepers when a scraped knee revealed her destiny. Koa was 5 and flamekeepers rescued him when his parents were caught trying to sell him. Unfortunately, many believe that killing a natblida will give them immense power and strength. Arlo was only four when he lost his parents and his leg. He was rescued and brought to Polis.

Arlo was the last nightblood to join Lexa's class as no others were found for over five years.
