A/N Hey guys, welcome to my very first story on Wattpad! I hope you enjoy it, but like I said, it's my first so it's probably not the best. So be sure to let me know how you liked the chapter in the comments, and if you have any advice, criticism, or ideas, feel free to tell me them in the comments or conversations, thanks!! <3

The moon. The light God created for the dark hours. That big gray sphere that rose and fell continuously every night. Steve found that sometimes he loved it, and sometimes, like right now, he hated it.

It was a full moon that night, it's light piercing through the dark, making it harder for Steve to sneak up behind a skeleton in his front yard.

Stealthily, Steve crept through the grass, hardly making a sound. He unsheathed his enchanted diamond sword.

Crack!

Steve stopped short as he felt a stick break underneath his foot. The skeleton spun around, bow raised.

Realizing his chance of a surprise attack was over, Steve leapt towards it.

Much to Steve's annoyance, the boney night time mob shot his arrow, which pierced into his shoulder.

"Shit!" Steve winced in pain.

He regained his composure and launched at the skeleton, sword in hand.

It only took two hits and the mob perished. Steve reached down to pick up the bones it dropped, only to grab his wounded shoulder and groan in pain.

"Damn it Steve, it's a skeleton!" Steve grumbled, picking up the bones with his other hand and walking inside.

After finally working the arrow out of his shoulder, he cleaned up and walked to his front door. Turning the knob and swinging the door open, he stepped out into the cool, fresh air. Breathing it in, he sat down on the grass, lost in his thoughts.

He signed, leaning back on his arms, palms digging into the grass. Lately he wasn't feeling right. He didn't know what this new state of mind was. Everything was normal so why was he feeling so...

Alone?

Steve had lived by himself since he was 16. So what was wrong with it now?

Then it came to him.

Adventure. That's what he missed. That's what he wanted in his life. What he was doing now, he was simply surviving.

And he was beginning to want to live, but little did he know what would happen to him in the next few minutes.

Suddenly Steve heard some rustling to his right, interrupting his thoughts. He shot up from his position and unsheathed his sword. "Who's there?"

No answer.

Cautiously, he walked to the edge of the forest. "Hello?" His voice echoed into the dark woods. Still, no answer.

"Guess it's nothing." He thought and shrugged. He turned to go back to the house but was startled to see, and almost run straight into, a figure standing directly behind him. On instinct, he swung his sword at the figure.

The figure was just as quick, if not quicker, it grabbed it's sword from it's back and blocked Steve's swing, and kicked him backwards. He stumbled but regained his composure and took another swing. It was blocked again, and as their swords clashed, Steve could see it was a young woman with red hair.

They continued to fight, but Steve wasn't used to fighting other humans, and certainly not one this good. She slashed her sword so quickly Steve could hardly block all her blows, let alone make some of his own.

She stole a second and switched her hands, Steve took that as an opening and swung his sword down.

Unfortunately for him, she flipped her sword upside down and blocked his swing, hooked it under his, twisted it and swung upright. His sword flew out of his hand instantaneously, landing to the ground with a clang half a chunk away.

Before he could do anything, she kicked him in the chest, sending him to the ground. She swung her sword down and held it hovering above his neck.

"Damn, you really need lessons."

"Who are you?" Steve asked, greatly annoyed with her.

"The name's Alex. What's it to you?"

Sorry that was so short guys! I thought that was a good place to end it, but I will write and upload chapter 2 as soon as possible, promise! Like I said before the chapter, feel free to give me criticism, advice, anything and everything helps more then you probably think. Thank you so much for reading, cya in the next chapter!
