hapter three

TWO MONTHS LATER. OCTOBER 31.

"hey mel!" hannah says as she sets her backpack down on the floor. "any plans for later?"

today is halloween. mel completely forgot. "yikes! i actually forgot. shoot, i dont have a costume. and ellas costume party is tonight, too..."

hannah thought. they had been frends for three months, was this too soon? "i mean, we could share a costume."

"share a costume? what does that even mean?" mel asked.

"well, i could give you my mario hat and the mustache or something, and then i can wear the overalls and shirt. we can both be mario." 

"youd do that for me?" mel was touched. she pushed her thick goggles up her nose. "that would be super cool!" 

THAT NIGHT. 10 PM. 

"mel and hannah! you came!" ella greeted the two friends as they walked through the dor. "and youre... both mario?" 

"hah. yeah, i forgot a costume, and hannah was kind enough to lend me parts of hers. so, we're both mario."

hannah smiled widely at ella. 

"well, im glad to see you guys r friends now. come on in!" ella gestured past the doorway. the party was loud. REALLY loud. hannah and mel loooked around, and noticed they were the only hybrids there. to be expected, i guess. 

in the corner was a tall minion doing a keg stand with his friends, and out on the balcony a few minions were smoking and talking. in true outcast fashion, hannah and mel decided to sit in the corner of the office and talk.

"haha this party sucks." mel said. "barely anyone is wearing a costume" 

"i think you look cute in that mustace!" hannah said. mel blushed. "you think so?"

"i know so! i could tell everyone was drooling over you and yourmustache the second we walked in." they both laughed. they were sitting awfully close to each other, hannah noticed. she could feel mels breath on her face. 

and then  they kissed! 

"oh my g- sorry guys!!" ella had just walked in. "i guess ill leave u two lovebirds alone..."

hannah and mel looked at each other. then they burst into laughter.
